Everybody these days are either starting a winery, craft beer or bourbon distillery. Nobody wants to fool with shine.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. For several years now our camping group from several states meet out in SD every Fall. And a couple born and raised in Kentucky never fail to bring along a supply of authentic moonshine. Not of their brewing, but of other locals.

That's why I joked about it with my comment #59.

I know its still being made in eastern KY but around here no. Lord knows I was always with the wrong crowd growing up and we could never find any local shine.
Another sign of the times is that cheap imports have cut out the local meth labs and greatly curtailed weed production. Most of the boys I know that are still alive tell me its cheaper to buy it now than to make or grow it.

I spent years traveling to KY for business and spent 3 to 4 months at a time in one place. I like Maysville a lot, I think that would be my first choice but I won’t leave Maine. Kentucky is a nice state, great people.

What I've seen of Kentucky via pictures is sure pretty. Or you could do as I've done. Move out on 80 acres with you closest neighbor four and a half miles away. Big city - Spokane - is a mere 28 miles away.

Only disadvantage - cell phone service is pretty skimpy. If you worry about things like that.

The old saying - "If I can see ya, you're trespassing. So watch it"

I'm glad this thread popped up. We are flying out tomorrow, heading for the national farm show in Louisville. We have at least 3 days just to site see. I would love to hear about cool things to see. Most likely we'd like to head east and explore E. Kentucky and maybe drop into WV. Ideas??

I drove through Louisville Kentucky many hears ago, and I thought it was one of the most beautiful and picturesque places I had ever been.

They've already got an Ark in northern KY, but I doubt if it will really float.
