Keurig coffee brewer

i guess i live in a "pod", i don't have a clue what you folks are talkin about..k-cup????? can you tell me what kind of coffee maker i can buy at wallyworld, that will make the best cup of coffee from out of the canned folgers coffee??? i ain't no con-o-sewer or nuthin...just can tell that the bun maker, makes the same folgers, made with the same water, taste considerably better..

Bunn makes a home version of their commercial brewers. I don't know if you can get it at Wal Mart.

Taste is affected by lots of factors, heat of the water, how long the water is in contact with the grounds, the amount of coffee used, the grind of the bean (fine, med, etc), how evenly the water is dispersed over the grounds, even the size of the exit hole the water leaves the hopper. Also, the coffee grounds are probably the most important factor, exposure to air, for as little as 15 minutes can make it taste stale and flat.

And don't forget the taste of the water, Bob. Hard to brew a good cup of coffee when you start with water that is full of sulfur, chlorine, etc.

My water is hard.. so a coffee pot only last about a year.

Here's a little experiment for you guy's to try..

Start.. whole bean coffee.. grind fine.
Pour into a coffee filter.. tie off w/ twisty tie.. it's like a tea bag.
Bring a pot of water to boil.. throw in "coffee bag".
The length of time and the amount of water.. will det. coffee strength. I like mine strong.. so I squish the bag w/ a spoon.

I've found this will make one of the best and smoothest cups of coffee. Plus.. you can make coffee on the woodstove or fire when the lights go out.. or if you find you didn't bring the coffee pot w/ you.

Funny you should mention that. My wife discovered the coffee pods yield a pretty good cup if you treat em like a tea bag!

I only use RO (reverse osmosis) water and the coffee tastes better then ever!

Plus I bought a tester for TDS for water and my cirty is over 600 ppm. Ro is 15ppm... I only use the DI (Deionization ) for my reef tank since it is pure as can be (0 ppm of tds).

Playing around with my meter:

Evian 287ppm (junk water)
Dasani 280ppm (Coke says its RO with minerals added for taste)
Poland Spring Water 153ppm (wonderful..not)

These all threads are wonderful. I got so much information here. I want to know about Keurig B70 brewer if some body has information about this please share it with me.

I have one of those and it works fine. You can adjust the water temperature somewhat if you like your coffee hotter or a little cooler. Once it ready to go it takes about 15 second or so to make an 8 Oz cup.

Of course it's a little more expensive to operate than using loose coffee. A pack of 18 cups runs $9 at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I also have their adapter to use loose coffee, but generally don't use it except for the occasional Celestial Seasonings tea bag.

We have a Keurig brewer at home (B60) and one at work (B40).

This link has a good comparison of all the brewers. I didn't think the additional features (48 vs 60 oz reservoir, 4 and 12 oz cup size) of the B70 were worth the additional $40.

We get our coffee, auto-delivery, from the same place.
