KEY STARTER SWITCH LABEL

My 1401d has a label above the key starter switch that has four positions; TS OFF ON START. Anyone know what the TS stands for and what it does when you turn the key to that position?

The TS is the thermostart position. I've never used mine, but when you turn and hold the key to that position diesel from a small plastic cup ignites and preheats the intake air to the engine. To me, it sounds kind of scary but from what I hear it works well in cold weather.
