Kid's dirtbikes outlawed

Anyone else hear about this. The CPSC actually has outlawed the sale of off road dirtbikes for kids...due to the led content contained in the motorcycle!

I have not heard about this with respect to the dirt bikes. But it seems like an other good idea run amuck. I know of some used clothing shops that are closing their doors because of this. They would have to have each item of kids used clothing certified lead free before they could sell it. Shop owners seem to feel they couldn't sell clothing at a high enough price to cover the certification costs. Cost reported on the news was ~$500, per item!!

There was a comment on our local news it was a kneejerk reaction to all the lead tainted stuff for kids coming from overseas.

ah, so all ye have to do is stop your kids from chewing on the muffler or the brake calipers... Ah, and I thought my government was bad!!
We had some legislation passed a few years ago regarding lead paint and certain plastics but it was more specifically aimed at..... em..... toys.............
