Was, retired in 06....currently working overseas oil industry.

Earlier this week, my grandpa and I went to the local auto mechanic to fix an electrical problem with his truck. While we were there, the mechanic told us a funny story about a guys newer Ford truck. The truck was running fine one day and the next it just wouldnt run. He thought that it may have been out of fuel or the fuel pump wasnt pumping fuel. The mechanic took it apart and found water in the fuel pump. He then emptied the fuel tank and it had 95% water in it. The mechanic asked thje guy if someone didnt like him or something and then the guy remembered a few days before his kids were in the yard playing with the garden hose. They were washing the truck and must have decided to "wash" the fuel tank.:laughing:

Think I'll look into a locking gas cap.....!

years ago just before going to work I asked my son to mow the lawn. When I got home not only was the grass not cut but I could not find the riding mower. He and his friend took the mower out for a joy ride and got it stuck about a mile from home.

I usta keep my 5gal gas cans out in my barn. One night my oldest son got a call from a buddy who was out of gas at work so he grabbed a full one and took it over. The car quit again about 100 ft out of the parking lot. Of course by now my son was halfway home, his buddy on his own.
Turns out our youngest son "topped up" ALL the gas cans with the garden hose, even the empty one that his older brother took to his buddy....

I had a customer do that too...except he put a full 24 qt case of oil into his small block Chevy. He said he kept adding oil because he couldn't see anything by looking down the filler neck. When I showed him the engine dipstick, he said he didn't know it was there! I told him to let us do the oil changes in the future.

I discovered the same thing with a Honda ATV, except the person who filled it up was in her 70's.

yeah dad had a Sears twin cylinder 18 hp model when I was growing up...It would scoot along pretty good, but then again that was 20 years ago..

Years ago, back in 74 or 75, I heard of something similar. A friend lent his Dodge Van to his Chinese room mate so he could haul something around..don't know what..doesn't matter. The guy decided to top up the gas (nice of him) and for some reason decided to check the coolant level. He had zero idea of how to do that! Nada! Zilch! (You can probably guess where this is going, eh? ) Yep!He filled the engine with water right to the top of the valve cover!
