Rest in Peace
In a previous home in Dallas, the City owned the street, the sidewalk, and the grassy strip between the sidewalk and street, but the homeowners were responsible for mowing that strip, and could be fined if they did not.
In our present home, there are no sidewalks, the street is a 20' wide asphalt, but the City has a 50' right-of-way, easement, or whatever you want to call it; i.e., 15' of my front yard. Naturally, the mailboxes are near the edge of the asphalt, and in a few rare instances, trees have been planted in that strip, the homeowners are responsible for mowing it, but the City could come in at any time, dig it up, or whatever. The water main runs along the other side of the street and the sewer main on our side of the street.
