King Cutter Bush Hog

I have a KK 5' bush hog nad a mahindra 4110 tractor. Does anyone have a problem with the KK bush hog not raising high enough. Is it possible to lower the pins to get more lifting height for transporting the cutter and what problems would be encountered by lowering the pins.

I don't know about lowering the pins; might work. Another thing that will let you raise it higher to transport is to shorten your top link as much as possible.

I had the same problem with my 6' King Kutter brush mower.
There is no problem lowering the pins.
I lowered the pins around 5 inches and it lifts much better now.

It is a typical thing to lower the pins on some cutters. The best way to tell where to place them is to, figure how high your average cut height is and subtract that amount from the ground up on the cutter when the cutter is setting on the ground. If you do this, then the lower lift arms will be about level when the cutter is at the cut height. Clear as mud. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif The lift arms should be about parallel with the ground with the cutter at cut height.

Not sure exactly how big the 4110 is... but it has to be close in size range with my NH.... I use my 5' KK hog on my NH 1920 with no problems whatsoever... I can pick the hog up with more clearance at the front of the hog than the tractor has, and the rear of the hog has enough clearance, that if it is lifted, when I back down off my trailer.. the rear wheel never contacts the ground while coming off the rear of the ramps....

Toplink adjustment is the key, as there is no reason why the 3pt lift cant get the front of the hog at least even with the bottom of the tractor... any clearance past that is moot, as if the tractor is already hitting it having the hog any higher wont help..

I have the 5' KK on a JD 4200 and it doesn't lift all that high but I can't quite see why I would need for it to. Once when I got into some wire I had to get on my back to get under it to cut the wire free. Maybe getting it way up would have been nice for that or for cleaning the underside, but that's about it. I don't know if this helps, but I have a 5 foot KK brush hog. I use it to maintain my hayfields and pastures, and several of my neighbors' pastures. When I'm out on the road on my tractor, I never lift the brush hog up, I just tow it the same as I do in the field, except of course I have the pto off. I've never had a problem doing that, and I've had it on the road for several miles, doing about 20 mph.

I have a KK 5' rotary mower on a TC-30, and I lowered the pins 4" and moved them forward 3" to clear the homemade chain guards( yet to be installed). It lifts at least 18" at the front of the cutter. I also made a new toplink swivel out of 3" square tubing with 1/4" wall thickness. I increased the hole center to center dimension from 4" to 6". so it will not bind on frame of cutter at all.

I went ahead and lowered my pins about 4 inches today. Before, I could only lift the rear wheel of the hog about a foot off of the ground without adjusting the top link. The rear wheel was always hitting the ground when traveling over uneven terrain. After lowering the pins I now have plenty of clearance and the wheel doesn't keep banging the ground. thanks for all the input. Love this site.
