King Kutter 6\' tiller

Has anyone had experience with KK tiller. I looked at many brands and KK seems to be great value and heavy duty, if not "pretty". The gear dirve would seem to be a bonus versus most others with chain drive. Medium duty Land Pride is top quality, but 2X price. No literature available for KK.

Thanks,
Mark

I don’t own any tiller, but have used a KingKutter unit and also a Howard. My impression of using the KingKutter with a small hp compact tractor was WOW!... I actually had my doubts a 22 PTO hp tractor could turn that beast… in tough, sticky clay based soil no less…

I’ve said it before… I really don’t know how KingKutter can sell this tiller so low in price… there must be something wrong…? /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Maybe we should look at it another way… and question… why does everyone else charge so much…? Exactly what does one get in return for spending twice as much money…?

This is another shining example of KingKutter outstanding value… /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: King Kutter 6\' tiller

You used a 6' KK tiller with 22 PTO HP in wet clay? WOW!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif That is truly impressive. Based on your experience, would you think 6' or 5' with my 20 PTO HP Deere 4200 MFWD HST? I'm more than a little while away from buying a tiller, but would love to have your thoughts on the subject.

Re: King Kutter 6\' tiller

My two cents.. and be aware I am biased !

Gear drive is not always a plus: how many chains have all you good folks bought..? Take notice: there is NO give in a geardrive, versus some in a chaindrive. Slipclutches can no longer use asbestos liners and are hard to keep working properly.

Are you sure you want a 72" unit.. sounds very big for a hobby farm.

The First Choice properly matched in size can be had for likely the same money. Nice Powder paint ( long life as well ) matched to your tractor colour, bigger end plates that control dirt likely better, nice rear deflector with flared ends, adjustable clevis type hitch blocks, lowest priced replacement blades in the business, even the CFO ( your bride ) will like this Tiller !

Let us know where you are and we will find you a dealer nearby.

Whatever you buy ENJOY it !

No... I used the 5' model... and was still impressed... /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I'd say a 6' may be pushing it for a 20 PTO hp though... (made the front end on the light side...)

That's what I was thinking. I was going by the topic heading ("6' King Kutter tiller")./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Thanks!

Re: King Kutter 6\' tiller

I have a 60" KK II tiller, currently going on its 3rd season. Used it to till my parents new front yard, 140'X 210' of heavily cobbled clay and glacial till. other than a few rock dents in the rear cover, it never missed a beat. Out standing peice of equipment. Not sure of exact weight, bI'd say its pushing 600 plus lbs.
I do wish it had the ability to offset so it would cover one of my rear tiretracks better.

Pieter:

Do the First Choice tillers have the ability to offset?

Re: King Kutter 6\' tiller

Yes, the First Choice units do have OFFSET capabilities. This means the lower hitch blocks can be moved side-ways. As long as your PTO angle does not exceed 17-degrees ( and your tractor stubshaft and your machine stubshaft are still in the same plane, NOT one angled which may cause "PTO shatter" ), you are ok. Since most compacts are between 48 & 52" wide, some of the First Choice models have the gearbox permanantly offset so the machines always cover the right tire ( assuming you are a right hand fender-leaner ).
Side-Shift is when you can slide the assemble of gearbox, lower and upper hitch in relation to the rest of the machine, but that has become less popular. Most users now only adjust their units once, typically when they first get it. Most models are designed to fit specific tractors. Rigid units, like KK do not offer the offset feature. First Choice offers all tillers with easy to attach clevis-type hitch blocks ( pin supported on both sides ). They also offer a sideshift unit with a hydraulic on-the-go adjustment. That is great for Landscapers who want to drive straight and pull their units over to get past downspouts for example.

Hope this information helps.

Whatever unit you get, enjoy it !
