This subject has come up a few times in other posts. The King Kutter bush hog top link bracket is poorly designed and most people modify it. I moved the U shaped bracket to the bottom hole and bent it in so the linch pin will not hit the side bracket. I also put a spacer between the U shaped bracket and the side bracket to keep the U shaped bracket off to one side so the linch pin will have enough clearance. I did mine this spring and it's worked good all summer. I recently got a digital camera, so here are some pictures.

I've attached a picture, rear view.

Thanks for the clear pictures. I have lowered the U bracket and lowered the lift pins, from advice found here at TBN, for my 5' KK. Probably from one of your earlier posts. I do need to make the U bracket squeeze and shim to one side, to prevent binding. I took some pictures of mine, which haven't been digitized yet. I plan to have a small write-up with pictures, on my website. Would you mind if I used the pixs you posted here? I do credit the original author, be it first name or common userid, or if you are not concerned with any privicy issues, full name and email. Feel free to email me, if you would like discuss offline.

JohnS - Feel free to use the pictures. I hope they can help someone someday. You can use my username and refer back to here if anyone wants to contact me via the PM (private message) system here on TBN. I might try and do a web site this winter. Might be fun to work on during a sub 20 degree day!

I did not have an issue with the setup that KK had, just came up with a better solutuion of it working with the quick hitch. I use pins to connect the top hook of my quick hitch and when I use the KK cutter I just pull out the hook and connect the chain using one of the pins. This allows free movement of the top connection when going through ditches and such. I use the other pin to keep the hook attached to the quick hitch so that I don't misplace it. Having a hydraulic top link connected to a control valve that has float detent on it also allows for more pivoting travel.
