hello all,
i went to tsc today and looked at rotary cutters that were
yellow. then went to another place that sells kk and that
dealer had blue ones! the place that had the blue ones said they were the same except the color and i am
wondering if they are different models/or duty ratings.the yellow were 599.00 and the blue were 549.00.i quess i should have checked model#s but never thought about it till they were closed. i think they looked the same but i can forget alot in a short amount of time!
any ideas?
thanks

I wonder the same thing the only place I have seen KK yellow is at TSC. It probably has something to do with manufacturing them for sale at TSC.

There was some posting here at TBN, awhile ago, about the KK implements being made specificlly for TSC, and were of slightly less quality compared to their standard line. Without any side by side, or taking a micrometer to measure gauge thickness, I could not find that to be true. All labels and manuals say KK, not TSC. If KK was making them specific for TSC, they would have a TSC label. I think if they were making them to lesser standards, per a TSC contract, wouldn't want to use their name.

TSC sells the 40HP gear box model of the cutter, which is the smallest they make. If the blue one was a 60HP or had a slip clutch, I would expect a higher price than $550. Outside of any old/new model issues, I suspect the cutters are the same. If looking for lowest price only, TSC does have 10% off with a flyer or credit card application, which brings it to about $530. If the dealer with the blue cutter assembles it, and lubes it, and has provided you with good service in the past, it is easily worth the additional $20.

I was at the Amsterdam, NY TSC on Saturday, and they had King Kutter implements. All were yellow, and the 5' rotary cutters they had were exactly like the one I bought last year at QFF. They had a good variety of King Kutter implemnts, and they all looked to be of very good quality.

The TSC Blue book lists Wallace Implements, which I have seen website pictures of, which are red. From reports from around NY state with new store openings, only KK is being carried, so far. I believe other TSC's carry both. Possibly a region decision? So, if you are in a TSC, and the Implements are red, don't assume they are KK. Likewise, if there not yellow, don't assume they are not KK.

I ran into this issue last year when I was looking at bush hogs. I emailed KK and was told the yellow ones and the blue ones are exactly the same. It’s just dealer preference on the color. Quality always had the yellow ones and TSC has the yellow ones. There’s a place in my area called Big Blue (local to southern Indiana, northern Kentucky, and southern Illinois) and they have the blue ones. There’s another local independent tractor and implement dealer close to me (D&J Equipment in Nashville, Indiana) that also has the blue ones, which is where I bought mine. Prices range from $500 to $600. I got mine for $500 and it was fully assembled.
