While reminiscing of spring, I found this video from last March when we tilled up some new ground for a new garden site. You can see our fruit trees in the background. This is the 60" King Kutter II Gear-Drive tiller on a 1969 Ford 3000 gas tractor. That is as slow as the tractor goes (1 st of 8 gears). Hopefully we will have a small, hydro diesel compact to use with the tiller in the next few years. After tilling, we installed a 4 ft fence around the perimeter. The garden did well for it being the first year. We got about 40 lbs of potatoes, brussel sprouts, zucchini, and acorn squash. The onions did not do well. In the fall we added a layer of manure and leaves/grass clippings. Hopefully in another month and a half I will be tilling in preparation for the 2014 garden.
