There is a local guy that has 3 new 5ft King Kutter tillers for sale. $1444 each. I attached the picture that was posted on the add. Are these pretty good tillers and do you think $1444 is a good price?

I've read they're pretty good. My Kubota dealer when I mentioned KK said to stay away though because parts are hard to come by (that was his reason). He wants to sell me a land pride of course. :)

While I prefer Land Pride, I gave serious consideration to the KK. My experience is the paint will fade quicker on them and the finish "may" not be as nice, but they are mechanically sound products and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

You might try looking under the Attachment section in General Forums.

I have owned a 6ft KK for about a year now, and have found it to be quite rugged, and trouble free so far..just hit the grease zert every couple of uses and its good! I think I gave $1699 for the 6 ft. So, your price sounds like its on the mark from what I have seen.

I bought a 5' KKII this past spring for about that price. Based on what I saw at that time, it was a good price. It was not a problem to use it to make a garden out of an area that had been yard for 20+ years. I ran the place with a disk twice, then tilled it. I'll know more about the hardiness of the unit in a couple of weeks when we do food plots.

Have not had to deal with parts issues yet. However, isn't KK in north central AL? Not sure where in TN exactly you're located, but if the dealer has trouble getting parts and you're in south central TN, the factory may be an option.

And, like others have said, I've yet to see a KK implement that had decent paint.

That good info- I am in southwest TN and I have heard that the have a dist center or factory in the south. Maybe thats why they are a little cheaper around here. You are now the 3rd person told me paint sucks? Wonder why

As Farmwithjunk once said (more or less): It's a ground engaging implement that lives in the dirt ... so don't worry about the paint. I have a 5' KKII that I bought about 3 years ago. It has performed without fail other than 1 broken tine, for which I ordered the replacement part direct from KK's website & it was on my back porch in less than a week.

That tiller gets a lot of use around here and it's one well built unit - I have no regrets about that deal. And the paint looks no worse than when I got it. $1444 sounds like a very good price. If you get it make sure to oil-up the gearboxes - they ship dry. Also, don't forget to rescue the owner's manual from under the rear deflector shield before you use it.

I have a 6'kkII and have had it for three years. Use it a lot and have had no problems with it at all. It is a gear drive system which I like. Keep it greased.

Our local store has a price of $1749.00 for the 5 foot model. I am sure that you already know this but be sure that the width of the tiller covers the total width of the tractors tires.

By the way, the paint is a good as the day that I bought it.

KK's are heavy duty, all gear drive,no chains to stretch or break. They will turn hard clay into powder in one pass.

What rundogs said is true, make sure you do not overwork the soil, it will break down the structure if you beat it to hard.

The last 2 posts are right on. I have a 5' KK that I bought at TSC in 2004 for $1050. When the ground moisture conditions are right, it will turn sod into a seed bed in 2 passes. It turns my garden into powder. I've used Befco and Kubota tillers and this unit beats them hands down.

Mine sets under cover but I've not noticed any problems with the paint. Have to admit that I've never washed it. Tillers get dirty and dusty in the first 2 minutes of use so I really never noticed if the paint was faded or not. Don't know that I'd care.

All the neighbors have me till their gardens. Several of them have various types of tillers like Troybuilt, etc. but none of them will break ground like this one and make it look so easy. I've used this a lot and have never had any problems with it.

One question though. Can't tell from the pic for sure, but looks like you have a pretty big tractor. Will a 5' cover your wheel tracks? It covers mine with about 5 inches to spare but your tractor looks bigger. You won't want a tiller that doesn't cover your tracks.

I don't think the price you were quoted is all that great but the tiller certainly is.

I have a 4ft. KK and it is great. Very heavy duty and with metal gears and no chain, I don't think it can be beat for the money. I have hit numerous rocks with mine, and it keeps on churning. Buy a KK tiller, you will be pleased with it!

How does a guy come across 3 - 5 footer KK for sale? Sounds a little fishy.

I have been on the "look" for a 60" tiller upgrade from my 48" melletti. Always end up back at the VERY well credited King Kutter. The price of $1444 is a steal... almost to good. Around here they go from $1800-$2000 new. That price beats all new gear driven tillers that size compared to other brands and there greedy dealers:D. Parts are no big deal, If you ever need them. Other acquaintance that have KK tillers have been able to source bearings from local parts stores or have just given King Kutter a call.... I just have not pulled the trigger on a new tiller yet, but when I do It will be more than likely a King Kutter.

Thats more than I paid for mine about 5 years or so ago, but its worth it. Great tiller.
