King Kutter vs Frontier disk

I have a dilema, I am in the process of swiching out my tractor and equipment. for some background, I have a small operation that I raise pheasants on for sale, dog training and hunting. These birds are released on my family's 1200 acre farm for said activities. I use my equipment for 2 purposes. One, I use them for small jobs around my pheasant farm and I use them for larger operations putting in food plots and other maintenance of our CRP ground. I have currently been using a JD 450 tiller and a JD 750 tractor. I find that it takes a looong time to till some of the food plots, I also use it to turn the ground in my flight pens So I am upgrading to a JD 2155 tractor and loader. The 2155 will not fit in my flight pens like the 750 did. I think I will go to a mounted 6.5 ft disk with angle gangs for the food plot work. what is if any difference in the KK disk over the Frontier disk? Is the frontier worth the extra $200.00 to $400.00? And as for tillers, I think I will use the savings from not buying a 3 point tiller to buy a walk behind tiller for the flight pen work.

I can give you a little review of the KK disc but I have no information about the Frontier. I bought the KK 6.5' disc last year from TSC. I used it to work up the soil around our new house to plant grass. I shortened the top link a bit and added weight and it cut into the ground faily well. It took a couple of passes but worked well. I also used it to make small fire breaks around some brush I was burning. I didn't have the extra weight on the disc but it still turned the ground up enough to have fresh dirt instead of weeds. I noticed one of the braces going from the top link to the back of the disc was slightly bent, remember what they say, don't turn with the disc down. Very minor and does not affect the operation but I will be more careful. Also those supports also don't have quite the right bends on the ends so they don't bolt flush with the frame. Not a big deal except I noticed yesterday that the bolt heads are working themselves through the holes. I got some fender washers and will be fixing that up. I was also discing up a couple acres that I had just plowed. I noticed the disc didn't have the weight to cut up the weed clumps. I have made a nw weight box for it and will try again next week with added weight. One thing I should mention is that my soil is sandy to sandy loam. My 27hp tractor pulled a three bottom plow through it so my ground is softer than most. I hope that helps.

Is your disk the angle iron frame type

Or the box (square) iron frame type?

I am conidering the box frame type, it weighs 300 lbs more than the angle frame.

Mine is the angle iron one not the box. I would bet you could forgo adding weight to the box disc. The TSC nearest me at the time had this one sitting in their lot for probably better than a year and gave me a reasonable price on it.
