I need to chime in here about this.
I am an IT manager and after enough remote users crashing and losing data we have started issuing
IOMEGA 33214 External 80GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive
These come with backup software and are only about a hundred bucks, and very easy to use. (Our salesmen can even use it).
Not all usb drives have backup software. So make sure whatever you get comes with it.
Cheers. )</font>
Did I say don't mention the backup thing. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Here is the story which adds insult to injury. I have two hard drives. I backup my important files from the first to the second. That way if one dies I have the other. Good so far, right, well I partitioned the first drive 160GB into a primary and an extended, and then created two smaller partitions within them. Here is where I made my mistake. When I backed up my files I thought I had selected the 40GB second drive but I had selected a partition on the the first. So when the drive mechanically died I was quite surprised not to find my backups on the second drive. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif So your suggestion to use the USB as a backup drive is a very good idea. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif But if and only if the operator can tell the difference between a,b,c,d,e,f, & g. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I'm working on it! Thanks for the input.
