Tractor
Boost it and Lose!
Have here this new CK2610 gear tractor with turf tires. Took delivery late last week fresh off the truck from North Carolina.
I promise not to bad mouth it or review it properly until I have 50 hours on the clock.

Bought the machine to primarily mow my lawn with a rear mount Landpride 72 inch deck that I bought new and beat badly for 16 years. Tractor was purchased to replace a 2000 model year Cub Cadet 7260 gear tractor of comparable specs to this one. The older Cub never let me down and always started in Winter, the Great Bend loader was beefy and heisted way more than it ever should have.

Also this machine will have 6 foot tiller duties and 6 foot plot seeder duties.

I was able to do my own pre-delivery and setup of the tractor and loader, have installed 2 rear remotes but haven't used them yet.

Positives: I like the open station platform, one can enter and exit either side even with the loader valve installed.

Starts and runs well, no black smoke but smells like any old Diesel before any emissions add-ons, this engine has no EGR or DPF. The only thing I see is some type of aneroid valve to limit black smoke on startup and accel.

Negatives: Thus far the only ***** I have is that the gears grind unless you step on the clutch and wait a couple of seconds, my old Cub would never do that in fact I could still be rolling slightly and swap gears forward to reverse with no grinding. I've looked at the clutch adjustment and have even adjusted some freeplay out to no avail. I hope the break in cures this issue but I don't think it will.

Also when raising the 3ph it is lighting fast and is very hard to control small inputs.

The left side loader mount pin is really hard to get in/out. I have adjusted things for hours but still no workee very well.

Within 10 minutes of hooking up my tiller the 3 point hitch sway bar link on the left side broke clean off at the chain link where it was welded by a machine. You could see it was never completely welded through, no big deal.

Hey if Donald likes it so does the fred right? "MAKE THE GARDEN GREAT AGAIN!"

I have 96 hours on mine and the gear grinding still happens. I have noticed that sometimes it just falls right into gear and other times no matter what I do, it will grind a bit. Example: Going from reverse to 2 in Mid range, not an issue it always just slides right in. But going from Reverse to 3rd in Mid range, negative ghost rider.....Grind except for a few times when the sun moon and stars line up it will fall into gear.

This is my only complaint so far with this tractor, 2nd is to slow some times and grinding every time I want to use 3rd it annoying. I worry about long term damage with all the grinding.

I have only used High range a couple times and it was on the road going to a neighbors house.

That is really good information thanks!

I notice this engine seems to make identical power as my old tractor that was 1.2 or 1.3 liter I forgot but this one has 1.6 liters and I think has been detuned a bit.

I seeded my lawn two nights ago with a 6 foot plot seeder that weighs a bunch. My front end was super light and I had to use the brakes to turn the machine once I picked the 3ph up. It worked very well mostly in high range.

I really am starting to like the machine. I have to finish the remote install as no directions came with the kit. Finally got a .pdf file to show me how.

Next purchase is a top and tilt kit that Kioti doesn't offer.

Performed 50 hour service today and replaced the hydraulic oil with Kubota SUDT2 because I share implements.
Couple of notes on air filters:

Primary is made by Donaldson and their part number is 822768 Secondary or safety inner filter is Donaldson 822769. Not found in Kioti parts manual but offered as an option in Kioti Wholegoods which is not online for the public to see. Option cost about $24.00.

Notice the metal on the drain plug magnet. Most likely grindings from my poor shifting ability.

Manual shows hydraulic oil capacity of almost 6 gallons but I drained 4.75.

Tractor performs well no real issues yet. It does everything I ask of it and pretty well. The boot over the intake pre-heater grid wire melted as this grid draws over 30 amps and this is the reason (on the 26hp model) that the alternator barely charges for 5 minutes as the grid pre-heater warms up the incoming air, this has nothing to do with cold starting but cold running to help alleviate white smoke.

I disconnected mine for Summer I might try it during cold weather but most likely will get tossed in the trash with the turbo install. Simply remove the 40 amp fuse below the starter.

Finally figured out why it grinds in 1st and 3rd gear. It has only second and reverse syncros. Oh well.

9x3 Manual Transmission
Manual transmission models feature 9F/3R speeds with synchronized 2nd and reverse gears making repetitive back and forward operation more efficient.

Fred,

I'm curious about the Donaldson 822769 filter. When I had my ck2610 dropped off, the driver was showing me around the tractor and mentioned there were two filters in it. He was then surprised when he opened up the can and only saw the one filter.

I'm in a pretty dusty area- I wonder if it would benefit me to run the extra filter, at least until winter. Other than increasing fuel consumption a bit, do you see any downsides to running two filters?

I added the inner to mine after I got it home, I just looked up the filter housing number off Donaldsons site and got the filter number and ordered one. Here is a page from the PDF it has mine on it but not sure yours is or not but just look it up if not.

Thanks guys,

I'm going to add that as well. I makes sense to be extra safe with the engine. I'm surprised Kioti never included it as standard in the first place.
