Kioti ck35 temperamental power loss

Hi all,

I have a few vehicles that I organise/help with maintenance and repairs on at work and one of our CK35s is acting up.

We use it with a trailer but even unloaded, occasionally when pulling away it loses all power in high range, to the point it almost stalls itself. It can then run fine for ages but the people that use it report it is happening more and more, so they now have to use medium range. This happens even when the trailer isn't loaded and sometimes on flat hard ground. Increasing the revs higher doesn't help
Our mechanic says (rightly or wrongly) that until it actually breaks it could be a big task trying to find the cause and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to narrow it down. It runs fine in medium as far as I am aware.

Sounds like a fuel problem has anyone checked the filter? Also sometimes crap in the fuel tank will plug the outlet port inside the tank one guy found a wasp in his and the tractor would not run. Pull the fuel line off the filter housing that comes from the tank it should have a good full line gravity flow if it does not I would pull all the fuel out of the tank and check with a flashlight also can back blow with a air hose lightly to remove a clog.

I checked the fuel filter bowl today, it looks clean enough, general check around the area, no leaks. I tried the tractor for myself yesterday as the person telling me about the problem now says it wont do anything in high, further along from being the temperamental problem it was. I was on relatively flat ground. Revved up to 2500rpm, engaged high and put my foot down, the tractor lost some revs but more noticeable was the noise coming from the hydraulics possibly, like it was trying to move but being held back (that distinctive whine), the wheels barely turned. Due to the tractor still being able to run at high revs in medium, would it be possible it could be a clutch problem that only affects high gear at the moment but will work its way down?

Will the tractor roll easily in neutral? could be a sticking brake? or something bound up in the transmission in high gear.

low hydraulic fluid? obstruction in hst filter? PTO engaged? 3PH dead heading? Do other hydraulics operate normally? Air lock at fill port on HST fluid?

I’m a little confused, I know it says CK35s in post #1, but I still am not sure if this is a Shuttle Shift, or an HST transmission.
If it is a HST, select high range, rev to 2500 rpms, and SLOWLY depress the treadle. How does it react?
If there was a slipping clutch I think you would smell it.

Sounds like driver error ! If it is a HST in high gear you can not just push down fast on the peddle . Also sounds like a few different people using the tractor and do not know how HST's work .
