Buying Advice Kioti CK3510 w/ Rotary Cutter

I guess I will share my opinion since we all have one and they all stink.

Seeing that the primary use will be PTO work, and you are needing as much PTO HP to drive the mower you want, I would get the shuttle.

Hydros have their pluses and minuses. Yes loader work will be faster and it will be easier inching up to an implement, but you loose a few PTO HP with the hydro. I also never liked the whine of the hydros. I can hear the whine of my neighbor's green tractor over his engine while he works.

Regardless of what you choose, post pictures and keep us updated on your projects! Also Congratulations, is a lot of fun bringing home a new tractor! :drink:

I have a CK27 which gives me 28hp. I lose 3 hp since its a hydro when using pto attatchments. I bought a Woods BrushBull48X and it works great. Bought the tractor with 290 hrs. 4 years ago and now have 950 hrs. I do alot of loader work with bucket and fork lifts. Thats what makes a hydro a winner for me. I have a shear pin on the cutter and not a slip clutch, i just don't use the cutter enough to have a slip clutch ( they are not maintenance free ). My pto is manual engagement...is yours an electric pto ? Have fun with whatever you buy !

Bought the 3510se Hst

1) reliability. Check how often and how expensive gear unit clutches and maintenance are vs hst repairs.
2). Operation. Gear gives 3hp more pto power. Hst gives you infinite controllability as you encounter high thick vs low thin grass, etc. couldn’t imagine cutting my land with anything else. Those that say “gear for cutting” must have long straight rows of uniform vegetation !!
3) the SE gear unit is the one with synchro and SE gives you all the SE features as well. Telescoping links are wonderful. Two remotes. Much better seat. Etc.
4) wish I had bought a 6’ shredder. I could always slow down in heaviest stuff but I can’t make up for the extra 1’ in width by base speed since I have a 5’. Also if you go r4 it is 63” wide so 5’ cutter means you hit the fence with the wheels before you cut next to it. If you aren’t going to continuously cut big stuff medium duty 1-1/2 to 2” rating is fine (is be scared to run my machine over a 3” sapling, even if the shredder can handle it too many horror stories about stuff torn off undercarriages)

If you ever plan on selling or trading, you will take a beating with a gear model on a compact tractor.

Close to 1,800 hrs on my HST B7800 Kubota: over 1,000 hrs by me. I've gotten WAY more work done with it because it's an HST: I often change directions so fast I give myself whiplash! Nearly 550 hrs on my HST NX5510 Kioti. A combined 1,500+ hrs with ZERO issues. I don't have wide open spaces, lots of trees to navigate among, so HST works best for me. I'd think that my knees (well, one of them anyway) would be hammered if not for the HSTs.

A big reason why CUTs became popular is the HST. My wife can operate one: for this reason I also went out of my way to get a UTV with an HST (diesel, of course :D).

The new, electronically controlled stuff, as I have on my NX, presents a bit of a delay in pedal response, which I am still trying to come to peace with. The delay has, however, saved me on several occasions. My Kubota's response is instantaneous; in some cases this is not a good thing: brain instructs tractor to do something that isn't meant and before you have a chance to change your brain waves the tractor is doing something you really don't want it to do (insert sounds of smashing into things here- the bigger the tractor the bigger the noise)!

Keep in mind that one cannot meet 100% of one's needs. Cover the requirements well and then, as I do, rent more power when/if needed.

With an HST one can slow down a lot easier. I've run a 5' rotary on the B7800 at a snail's pace; I initially had to do battle with grass as tall as 9 1/2'!

By the time I got my NX I had a very good understanding of what I needed. An HST was never in doubt for me. (I still cannot thank folks here enough for the recommendation of a cabbed tractor!)

The market for used gear tractors in this segment is tiny compared to the HST market.
