I know what you mean, some dealers have web sites with email contacts, then don't acknowledge any emails you send. I bought my first kubota because one of the local blue dealers wouldn't even help me when I walked into their dealership. I have never been back. I drive by them almost daily, notice they now carry Kioti also.
However, there are good dealers, especially the ones that post on here. I have not bought from Wallace, but they were very responsive on a quote I asked for once. Same applies for Messick and Barlows, very responsive. I'm sure I'll be buying from one of them within the next year.

theres a wonderful invention called a telephone, use it.

I have no problem with calling them if I have to. However, if they do not want to be contacted by email then I dont feel they should list their email address and persons name to contact on the website.

This is 2009. There are other ways of communication OTHER then the antiquated telephone (POTS service)

One wise remark to another ;)

Give them the benefit of doubt, call, email and drop in if you found what you think you want and test drive. If they show no interest after those three then give them the heave ho. A two to four hour drive is little compensation when making a purchase this big. If there are multiple emails being read by multiple users then no doubt some emails will get overlooked, same goes for phone calls, voice mails and secretarial messages, they also get overlooked some times. Get them a couple of chances then make up your mind if you haven't tried a couple of times. My two cents worth. Bashing and sarcastic remarks get people nowhere unless you show pun if that was your objective.

Steve

P.S. Send your email with the acknowledgment feature turned on, at least you may get feedback one way or another although not guaranteed.

There is so much competition out there that I give my business to those that want it. People who don't return calls or email may get an anonymous visit from me just to check the place out. In the end, if they can't treat me like a customer then I'm not. Those attitudes evolved from my experiences.
Now I don't think twice about going out of my way to support people who treat me well. It even factors in against price differences for me. I'd rather see businesses like Wallace thrive than support people who are unresponsive. It looks like a little more driving but it is a lot less grief. I know it saves me time and money in the end.

I think I may make a quick stop at the one dealer who did not reply in the coming weeks. I have since spoken with someone else, outside the forum, who said the same dealer did the same to him and did not return his emails or phone calls. He ended up buying a tractor from a different dealer.

After the holidays I am going to get in touch with Wallace and go from there. To be treated fairly I am willing to drive much further than 2 or 3 hours if need be. :)

I agree it could have gotten misplaced or overlooked. Thus, I wasnt trying to bash any dealers and havent mentioned any names. I was just looking to see what some others had experienced with dealers. I have never purchased a tractor new, so I was just curious if I was going about it wrong is all..

Thanks for the input to this point though you guys have told me pretty much what I was already thinking.

It is a sad thing when a good product gets misrepresented by a person (s). Based on my local dealer's attitude I never would have bought the tractor I have. However another dealer 1.5 hours away sells the same brand and they are great. I bought a used Kubota and just wanted to see the support I can receive if I need something. So. Now I make a list of things that I need and when I happen to be in the area I buy it. No biz is going to the people who didn't treat me like a customer.
I say all this because this problem is by no means brand specific.

Not the first time i've heard such a thing...
My brother was shopping for a ballast box..he doesnt technically have a Kioti but the closest dealer to him now that he's moved is a Kioti dealer...went to get a price and the response he got was:
Dealer: "what kind of tractor do you have"....
Bro: "Bobcat"
Dealer: "Oh, these ballast boxes wont work on your tractor, you really need to get the the ballast box offered by Bobcat"...
Bro: "OK"

KNOWING Full well it was total B.S...he hopped into his truck, drove down the road and came home with a JD iMatch QH & the matching Ballast Box. Deere dealer was more then happy to work on pricing with him, provide honest answers, etc..and not only did he get a Ballast box, he bought the QH too.

So, not only did that dealer blow the sale of a ballast box, do you think my bro will go there for parts for his "White CK"?

Not all dealers are created equal...I could list off dealers of all colors I've been too that I wouldnt even buy a 1/64th scale toy tractor from...and some I'd trust with my first born.
