"you are just hurting Kioti by trying to point fingers at them and saying they are the only tractor company that backorders parts from time to time and can't fill oders."

Whoa dude, nobody ever said they were the only one. And I am the one being hurt at this time with a tractor that has no tie rod. If I thought the thing was made of irreplacable glass, I wouldn't have run it or bought it for that matter.

My expensive new tractor is dead in the yard after the first day of work on the first broken part. My fault for bending it, maybe, but it doesn't matter since the trouble is the replacement part.

I am trying not to stress too much. I spent a lot of money on a machine and got one day out of it before it apparently is a yard ornament. You can imagine the **** I'm getting from my wife. Oh, did I mention she's about to calve within a week. Maybe I need some whiskey, to get back my patience.

The dealer is doing me a huge favor and that will get me back in business later this weekend. I don't think that lets Kioti off the hook. But it is justification for paying the extra money to buy from a dealer that isn't fly-by-night.

Sorry, I don't know the part number. I trust things will soon be right and that I can keep on tractoring. Bear with me.

Oh and then some moron ran a stop sign and sideswiped my truck on Tuesday. That might be making me sour too.

Just don't get on the tractor after the whiskey!! Yes, you have too much on your plate right now, congratulations on the pending arrival.

Here's hoping that all gets well soon. Congrats on the pending arrival of a new baby.
It's very understandable that you're disappointed regarding your tractor. Any of us would be upset if we only got to use for a day and then had to wait for a repair.
I hope all that fades into the background soon enough.

Thanks folks, I really am not bashing the brand or the tractor. Just unhappy about parts availability. Once the tractor is working again, I will proudly trailer it to its next job and show people how well it works. Nobody will ask about tie rods when they see the nicely mowed field... that is unless I am cussing about bending it again.

I would order two tie rods--that way you will never need the other.
(words from a facetious mechanic who tries stocking some stuff)

I hope you get the "right " part too---its always frustrating waiting and finding the one you get is 1" too short...
this has never happened to me but I have heard about it :~}

Congratulations on your soon to arrive addition to the family. A picture of the baby on the CK would be nice but the wife might not like it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
As far as parts: When I bought my house and it took four hours with a push mower to cut the grass, I told my wife we needed a rider. She had other ideas for our money, so I bought a Sears rider on sale after she bought the necessary things. Have to keep the wife happy. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Well, I broke a gear in the transmission with the grass growing fast in July. I waited over six weeks for the gear. The gear was common to many of the riding mowers but there wasn't one in the entire U.S.A. There were probably more of those trannys in the States than there are CK 25 and 30's. My frustrations grew everytime I had to use the push mower. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Moral of the story, sometimes stuff just happens and it always occurs at the worst time. Every company has backorder problems from time to time.

and not just parts...
As part of our move, we needed a new washing machine. Off to Sears, checked out the more reasonably priced models and waited my turn - out of stock. Not to be defeated in my quest, I set off to HD, checked out their offerings - out of stock - expected delivery 5 weeks. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I left, deciding I'd return to Sears a few days later wife in hand to chose another model. We picked the one advertised in the Sales flyer that started the next day. Yep, you guessed it - out of stock - expected delivery 4-5 weeks. Somehow I think if I'd wanted to purchase the $1000+ model, it woud have been available for immediate delivery.
I just hope it doesn't need a part before the warranty expires /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The good news is that the tie rod ends have several inches of threads that sit in the rod so I could handle an inch. I will still receive the new tie rod from Kioti, someday, so when it comes I will have a new spare and the old bent one to bend back. So two spares should guarantee that I will never bend another.

I brush hogged for about 14 hours this weekend with no damage! Except for my sore butt.

Now it's time for a nice grill guard with an integral tie down point so I don't have to feed chain through the frame every time.

I used some Jeep tow hooks, you can see them in this pic.

I was thinking of using the pair of holes on the side frame plates to bolt some sort of d-ring. Thought I saw a picture of that somewhere. I like the flexible mount so that there is no funny side load like on a rigid hook.

That's one heck of a binder there.
