Hi... I thought there were only a JD and a Kubota dealer within 50 miles of my new home... turns out there is a big Kioti dealer too. I was set on a Kubota B2620 HST with Landpride RC1548 rotary cutter and a R300 Rhino blade.

This is what the local dealer offers me for a cash sale:

Kubota 2620 with LA 364 loader - $16,571 plus tax
Landpride RC1548 cutter - $1169 (plus $150 if I added a slip clutch) plus tax
Rhino R300 blade - $478 plus tax

What would be the equivalent to a B2620 in the Kioti line, and would the price be cheaper on the tractor/loader for the same kind of performance? My budget is $18,000, I could go to $20,000 in a pinch.

I am not too keen on checking the Kioti website right now, considering I just read report there are viruses on that site!

Check out the Kioti CK27. It is horsepower wise about the same as the Kubota but is heavier and has a more powerful loader. I imagine it has more deluxe features too like suspension seat but I am not so clear on the differences between the Kubota B2620 and 2630 lux version.

I have not priced the CK27 but in general the Kioti's are priced lower than the equivalent Kubota models. The challenge is to consider what the equivalent model is and then to make adjustments for features found on one and not the other.

Thanks... I'll pay a visit to the Kioti dealer tomorrow, and check out the CK27.

The rotary cutter you mention is 48", right? Is that the biggest the 2620 will handle? If so, you might want to even consider the Kioti CK25 or even the CK20. I believe the CK25 is being phased out for the newer CK27. This might mean that you can get a deal on a CK25. The CK25 will handle a 5' cutter easily. The CK20 is also a great little tractor unmatched in performance in its horsepower class.

While I think the CKs might save you a couple of dollars. Each, will have their strong and weak points (Kioti vs. Kubota vs. Deere). It depends on your intended usage and values. The Kiotis are heavy brutes with awesome hydraulics. This makes them excellent for ground engagement, and perhaps too heavy for soft lawns. The Kubotas tend to be light, which makes them better mowers but not as good at ground engagement. It depends on what is important to you. The Kiotis might be a little wider. This, combined with the weight makes them a little more stable on varying terrain.

I have the CK25 gear. Great tractor. Superb digger and loader. But, I wouldn't want to finish mow with it. However, it would be perfectly good for Bush hogging.

Make sure you test drive those that you might buy.

No lawn on my nine acres.... heavily treed, so I don't want a tractor which is too big. I need one I can get under the forest canopy. I am busy right now cutting the lower and dead branches on the trees.

Mostly I will be mowing the meadows, clearing the underbrush in the treed areas (the lot has never been cleared before), and grading/snow clearing of the long gravel driveway (about 1/4 mile long).

I would like to dig a couple ponds where water naturally gathers, but it might be easier if not cheaper to hire a landscaper with a backhoe for that! Besides that, I don't know what I would need a backhoe for, except for some French trenching in areas where there is water run offs.

The rotary cutter is indeed 48". The Kubota dealer told me that because of the altitude (my land is at 7400 feet), the Kubota B2620 could not take a bigger cutter.

The extra weight of a Kioti would be an advantage, right?

Sounds like a Kioti would be well matched to your intended needs. The weight would be an advantage for you, for sure. Given the altitude, you might want to consider the CK30 or CK35.

Given the thoughts of the altitude the three range transmission on the Kubota could be a big benifit for moving loads around. Kubota has always been a conservative company as to what their products can do!

It wasn't to loang ago someone had mentioned they were running a 5' cutter on a BX!
Given the altitude I bet that you would find a heavier tractor would naturally use more fuel just to move, might not run the cuttter as well at any width as one a little lighter or where you could add the weight to make the balance right for any chore. Fat tractors burn more fuel eliminating any price advantages over time.

A CK27 is more along the lines of a Kubota B7800 (30Hp). Kubota builds about 3 models for every 1 Kioti, so its hard to find a real apples to apples comparison.

Well... the deed is done! I bought a Kioti CK35 Hydro with KL130 Loader, 5' Howse Brush Cutter with slip clutch, 6' HD T/A rear blade, rim guards, AG tires, hooks on bucket... and it cost me less than the Kubota B2620 with lighter duty loader and implements.

I do like the Kubota B series, but I think the Kioti will serve me better and my budget would not have stretched to a 29 hp Kubota, let alone a 35 hp machine.
