Kioti extended warranty question...

My dealer never mentioned it. I never knew it was available. I'm curious to see what it really is and how much it cost.

My dealer offered me a 5yr bumper to bumper (or bucket to top link) Kioti warranty when I bought my tractor in 11/03. It was $1000 then. I asked him a few days ago and the plan is now $1250 on the same tractor. He said in all the years he has sold Kioti's, he has had only a handfull of claims on these policies (all small) and all were paid promptly. He also added he has yet to have an engine or transmission go down on a Kioti.
I also checked on the company that services the Kioti Extended Warranty and it is top rated.

Nearly every consumer advocate I've read suggests that extended warranties mostly benefit the providers, not the buyers.
As most CUT owners usually put less than 100 hours a year on their tractors, it's not likely that an extended policy would be needed after the initial warranty runs out. Not much really goes wrong that would be covered.

I asked my dealer about this 2 days before my year warrantee was up on all my attachments (as they get worked fairly hard) now past that by almost 2 weeks. I don't know if I will be able to get it or not as they said the need to look into it. I personally would like to get the warrantee added for the attachments alone. It will extend the tractor at the same time but does any dealer know if I will be able to get it as I didn't know about it until a posting here a few weeks ago. Will Kioti allow me to add this warrantee still as it was a saturday I asked about it and I took delivery on Aug 1st... any info would help.

Those prices are in line with what I have been quoted on both of my brands. I didn't accept them. Generally I would agree with what KiotiJohn posted. Just as he has seen advice against it, so have I. Now if I was going to put several hundred hours a year on a tractor year after year after year, or if I was going to put excessive miles on a car, then I would very likely consider an extended warranty an investment. Also, extended warranties are almost always cheaper to buy before you take delivery of your tractor, car, refridgerator, TV, etc.
