I can't discount any of your scenarios, they could all happen, but I will say you have a darn good imagination.:)

I agree, how did you think of those?

Now, I'd have to double check, but I think the homeowners covers the liability issue (my property, non farm use). damage to the tractor through my fault, I have to check, really not sure. However, I was really concerned with theft and fire etc, maybe a little with liability (there is no one around me), self inflicted wounds never really occurred to me, are you saying that the Kubota would cover some idiot tipping his tractor into a pond or blowing up the gearbox through a failure to clutch? Also, most damage would be under the deductible, so I'd pay for it anyway, but a complete loss might be covered. I'll have to read the fine print and talk to the agent.

But what if a deer was blinded by the bright LED floods on your tractor and jumped through the moon roof of the only $50K?! SUV driven by the little old lady with a pacemaker, who then spins out and lands upside down on your pond?

Would you:

1. drive over and pull her SUV to the pondside and give her mouth to mouth, and jump start her pacemaker with your jumper cables?

2. Call AAA?

3. Go inside and turn off all the lights?

All of the above! And once the lights were off, I'd get back on the phone and lawyer up!

.

I'm pretty risk-adverse when it comes to anticipating what can go wrong just when I think I'm doing everything right. :)

I actually asked about some of those scenarios last year right after I got my NX4510 just to get a better understanding of the scope of homeowner's coverage available here in No. VA even when I didn't venture off my property with the tractor. I was stunned at the answers from two well-respected carriers. Tractor catches fire in the barn or garage? No problem, it's covered. Tree falls on it while it's parked in the paddock? Covered. Serious fueling accident while it's parked? Probably covered.

By contrast, if I'm operating it, things change quickly.

Now, getting an inland marine policy with liability and all-peril coverage is no problem, for about $1,000/yr around here, and it would also cover non-commercial operation off my property, e.g., if I'm plowing snow as a favor for a neighbor and I back my rear blade into his $100,000 RV, or driving down the county road to fuel up at the gas station and I cause an accident, or trailering the tractor to the dealer. In the trailering example, the tow-vehicle's insurance would typically cover third-party liability, but collision and comprehensive insurance would likely not extend to damage to the tractor itself.

I was also surprised to learn that a carrier who will write a certain type of policy in some parts of the country will not in others, even though it writes other types of policies there. And of course premiums for the same coverage can vary wildly based on location.

Sorry, I forgot, the car took out the cell tower, and hit the telephone pole too, on the way to the pond. No way to reach a lawyer, sorry.:confused3:

Thanks to a tip here on TBN last year, I have an inland marine policy through CNH on my equipment.

Call Karla at the number on this web site https://www.cnhindustrialcapital.com/en_us/our-solutions/insurance/physical-damage-insurance

And ask if a UofM diploma displayed on her dashboard allows Minnesotans to park in handicap spaces in Wisconsin?

I'm like Tony, my tractor is covered by my home owners insurance just so long it stays on my property. Once I take it off my property all bets are off and I'm on my own. This includes loading it on my trailer to transport it anywhere. I thought my auto coverage would cover it but they say they will cover the trailer but not what loaded on it.

I have an Inland Marine policy through State Farm, it covers the tractor for 1.5 miles from the house. Mainly because I told the agent that I drove it to town to put fuel in it. Price $468.oo/year CDN
