Kioti or kubota

   / Kioti or kubota #21
I once heard a story that Kubota and Kioti used to be the same company. Until it split. The part that went to China became Daedong (Kioti here in the US). I do not know if that is true or not. Just another rumor floating around in the pot. Has anybody else heard such a story as this??

Kioti (Daedong) is made in South Korea

I heard the kioti kubota story, but I dont think there was much truth to it. There certainly are no shared components or engineering that I know of. There was a lawsuit over the use of the orange paint, dont know what ever happened to it...

Steve,
I think a couple of dealers not the corporation were telling customers that the Kioti's were made by Kubota. I believe Kubota is just trying to cut down the competition thru litigation /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

One version of that story is that Japan did a cultural exchange thingy with S. Korea, and Kubota helped Daedong develop tractors. I doubt there is any truth to any of these stories. John

RSH - That's a tough call - I just went through the same kind of decision, starting out looking at a B7610. The difference is that I was not much interested in mowing with it, and was getting a FEL & BH, so the light weight of the Kubota & the ladder frame scared me off. The Kubota B7800 has what they call a "double frame", basically a reinforced frame, but you don't get that on a B7610. The Kioti is built in a more traditional tractor style with the gear cases forming the structure. As was pointed out, a CK20HST weighs over 600lbs more than a B7610. You'll have to decide if that is good or bad for your use.

You also don't get an absolute position control on the 3PH on the B7610, it has that "quarter inching valve", which is a relative up or down control. You have to go to the B2xxx to get a better heigth control (which the CK20 has).

The CK20HST has a treadle-style peddle, while the Kub has more separated forward and reverse peddles.

The B7610 has more power and bigger wheels. You will find the fender grab handle on the Kubota to feel cheesy, as the whole fender flexes when you pull on it (small thing, but it bugged me). I can't comment on the absolute price, as I was shopping different euipment, but the price difference is close - I was looking at about $1500 less for the CK20HST.

I had already decided on the CK20HST when my dealer showed me a Kioti LK3054 - for the same price as the B7610. It has a shuttle shift & is much bigger - it doesn't have a mid PTO, but you may not need it. It was no contest - I bought it!

There is no doubt that the Kubota B7610 is a nice machine - I would say the biggest difference in the tractors is the weight. if you feel that you want to keep the weight down to reduce impact on lawns, then the Kubota may be the way to go. Otherwise, you'll get more with a Kioti.

You're preaching to the choir here. The local Kubota dealer turned me off. Honestly, I have two local Kioti dealers, one good and one had the same take it or leave it attitude. I took the Kioti with the good dealer.

Yes. I've heard the same thing. I believe they used to be affiliated.

There never was any connection between the two companies. Kubota has made press releases about this. There was a law suit, and it was over the fact that Kioti dealers where claiming that the tractors where made by Kubota or the same as Kubota's.
