I am building 1/3 of a 80x50-ish pole barn w/loft. I scavenged some big utitilty poles, 28' long & 14-15" on the butt end. A neighbor came over with a 16" auger & dug 5 holes(my auger is only a 9"). I would love to say that I tilted up & set these monster poles with my DK40SE, but I have a neighbor that is a logger, so he came over and set them with his log truck boom....took about 45min & much safer.
I will trim the poles later when the other 2/3's gets built, but I do want to be able to stand up in the loft against the wall. The section I am building now is going to be the 80'x16' drop shed(in red to the right of the poles in pic #1) which will hold about 320 rolls of 4x4 hay. I am using the Kioti & forks to load logs on my sawmill, then off load the finished boards & beams. I'll post more pic's as it gets done.
I was straightening each pole and tamping the bases with a 'baccer stick.
