We know your drooling over the powerful DK65S. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well shoppintractors, I'll have to say you got me on that one. As you can tell from my past posts, the DK65c is one tractor that I'd honestly like to have. (there, take that kiotijohn! thinking I don't like Kioti's!) My biggest problem, by far, is that my only semi-local Kioti dealer is a jerk who really is trying to get more for his Kioti's than what I can get a Kubota for. I think I mentioned that JD, CNH, and Kubota are in a tremendous battle in my area. That has seemed to make them sell their tractors for just a little over cost to try to grab market share from the other 2 manufacturers. The stinkin' Kioti dealer sells ATV's, boats, fishing supplies, you name it. He doesn't seem interested in selling a Kioti unless he makes a home run on it.

Even though I have everything the way I like it on my 5030HSTC, if a Kioti dealer was aggressive in making me a trade offer on the DK65 with a cab and loader, I'd be all ears. Hint, hint. Any Kioti dealers out there want to take a "trophy" Kubota customer from their top of the line "Grand" series?? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'd love the extra power and not having to carry two fuel cans with me every time I head out to use my tractor. (the 5030's suffer from an absurdly small fuel tank)

As far as trading tractors every couple of years. Do you know why? Because I can!! To move up a couple of years for a couple thousand dollars works just fine with me.

you said that @ #496391 - 09/14/04 10:08 AM.

Ka-ching every time at the dealers bank. Good for you but thats not the case for most of us out here laboring in the field.

Big deal. Its a tractor. Get it muddy. Go mow. Go bury something. When the day is done it is still just a tractor and not some greek god. Don't get all up in a tissy (not refering to you Dargo) about my remark. I've heard what the local Omaha Kubota dealer thinks of Kioti. He told me straight to my face as I was about to purchase a new blade and he asked what I was putting it on. He didn't make the sale. The other Kubota dealer said he would never trade for a chinese tractor. 6 months later he had a used Farm Pro 30 setting on his lot beside the NH and Kubota's. It sold. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

On the flip side the Kioti dealer here told me that some of the Kubota engineers left Kubota and started up Daedong (Kioti). Say what?

I bought my 3054 used, private party with 43 hours because it was a heck of a deal.

Dealers are dealers - meaning they need to move product. Just like with any product they need to choose their words carefully regardless of if they are selling or just having a friendly conversation. Many customers are tuned in and turned on. Going into the store already very well studied on what they are looking for. Making every penny count and carefully looking for flaws. The worst thing a saleperson can say to me is "I have to make a living too.."

Please don't PM me regarding this post. This just is not that big of a deal. Its tongue in cheek. Relax. Take a deep breath. But not after you start your tractor in the shed. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim, I'm not at all clear on why I should be upset and want to "PM" you. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Yes, I trade up for new tractors quite often. Without looking up others, I can tell you about my last 3 trades. First off, I bought a Kubota L4310HSTC a few years ago to replace a JD4600 that I'd had for 16 months. I got a straight out cash price for the 4310 and then what the dealer would give me on trade. The actual money the Kubota dealer was going to put in my JD4600 was $1200 less than I paid new for it 16 months earlier. I was given 10 days to let him know if I'd take the offer.

I put my JD 4600 on eBay for a 7 day auction with a "buy it now" price that was actually $200 more than I paid for the 4600 new. It sold in 2 days and was picked up and paid for via a cashier's check in 5 days. I then bought the Kubota L4310HSTC outright. After I duducted the $75 it cost me to sell my JD on eBay, I still made $125 on it after using it for 16 months.

Next, I decided that I liked the Kubota RTV better than the diesel JD Gator that I'd purchased new. I did the same thing. I got a cash price for the RTV and then a trade in value that was good for 10 days. I only had the JD Gator for 9 months and had put 72 hours on it. I also put the Gator on eBay. It too sold for my "buy it now" price, which was $475 more than I paid for it new. The gentleman who purchased it lived in AZ. He paid me via a cashier's check within 3 business days and had a hauler at my house in 5 days who picked it up and delivered it to him. I cleared just over $400 on the Gator after eBay fees and bought the RTV outright.

About 6 months ago, I wanted a stronger tractor than the Kubota L4310HSTC. As I mentioned several times, the Kioti dealer did not care to deal with me at all. As usual, I got a cash price for the L5030HSTC tractor and then a trade in value. Since the trade in price offered by the dealer gave me back everything I paid for the L4310HSTC except for the sales tax, and I used the 4310 for 13 months, I went ahead and traded that day.

I don't know how you do your math, but my math tells me that I've basically driven my tractor and UV's free in the last 4 years even with all of my trading. Thus, my comment that I trade often "because I can". Sorry if that offends you or if you don't believe me. I figured that if I can get by with my tractor costing me $1000 or less a year, I think that is pretty fair. Fortunately, I've done much better than that lately.

Now, I only have 51 hours on my L5030HSTC, and all of the initial "bugs" seemed to be worked out. However, since I've purchased a considerable amount more property than I had when I bought my 5030, I'd really like to have a larger tractor. That is where my desire to have the DK65c comes into play. If I could again get by without losing much (I don't reasonably expect to always profit on my tractors), I certainly would entertain trading my L5030HSTC, that is like brand new, for a new DK65c.

That's my whole story. I didn't take anything you said as an insult. By you expecting me to be upset, I only assume that you don't believe me. That's okay. I'm not concerned about convincing anyone. To be blunt, that is quite irrelevant to me. As I said earlier, if some Kioti dealer wants to work a decent deal with me, he would be more than welcome to brag that he took a "loyal", regular, Kubota customer from Kubota. Don't believe me? Find me a deal and just watch! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It just amazes me that some people will pay as much or more for some things used than what they can get it for new.
I was at an auction last year where there was a Land Pride tiller (don't know the model #). But this thing was worn out junk. The tines were completely worn off, many were missing, the gear box had plates on it to hold it in place.
The tiller sold for $1600.Couldn't believe it /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif This thing wasn't worth $200 the condition it was in.

Dargo,
I did not mean for that to be directed to you about the PM. The majority of my post was intended for a larger audience.

I really hope I didn't offend anyone about the greek god remark. I got to thinking that maybe someone has named their tractor Zeus or Hercules..
thx
Jim
