The Kubota engine that you sited would require all new hyraulic pumps, since it's a 3000 rpm max engine. Although it's a great engine, model D1005-E is a high speed 3600 rpm engine from Kubota

Kioti diesel engines

I don't know the details, but here's a link to Daedong diesel engines, which are used in the Kioti (ie. "other orange") tractors...from what I've heard, they share similar characteristics to Kubota diesel engines.

Also, there's a place called "the Engine Room" that often sells "new old" stock Deutz diesels on ebay. I recall seeing an 18hp diesel for $1K not too long ago!

It looks like the Honda & Briggs 2 cyl Vanguard engines would line up within a .2mm of the Robin engine's shaft, but they are only 24 & 23 hp engines
