Our mixer cracked the transmission housing. Not a big deal, since the replacement was like $20 including shipping.

As far as the cause, I suspect the head to base connection. Making bread dough every so often works the bolts lose and the wiggle can't be good for the mixer.

I replaced those philips head bolts with allen head SS to be able tighten them better, hope it holds.

1984 Fresh out of college...moved to Sioux City Iowa... new job, new home, new friends...

Had a taste one day for some home made chocolate chip cookies... instead of getting out a bowl and using my darn hands to make the batter, I took it as an excuse to go to the store and bought one of these.

I've had it ever since. My owning it when I met my now wife, probably helped fool her into thinking I knew how to cook something....anything.... I'm not sure she was ready to believe that I bought a $200 mixer (or what ever it was back then) just to make a stupid batch of cookies!
