I was at a farmers market a few years ago and there was an older gentleman there with a van tricked out to sharpen all kinds of blades. His knife sharpener was this sweet looking low speed horizontal belt grinder with a super trick rail and clamp system. 3 different clamp angles 20, 25 and 30 degrees. They are pricey but I have more then paid it off by sharpening knives for folks in my neighborhood. RAZOR sharp in 5 minutes
Cheating? Yes maybe, but as I get older I am starting to realize that if one want to have time for other things efficiency is key.

It looks homemade but, but results are what matters. If it does the job, you are all set! Nice!

I bought an old WEN sharpener (white rotary stone with water bath) off eBay a couple years ago. It has a decent angle stop and does well to bring your knives back to factory.

Yes, it is not factory build made in china crap. This is a very small 1 or 2 man operation that makes these things somewhere here in the US. The one I have is called Real Sharp, I believe they are since out of business. However, someone else has taken their design and run with it because I found something that looks exactly like the one I have.

Best sharpener for pruners is my dual grinding wheels (think from Sears). Works far betters than files. Sometimes, I smooth them out a little bit more with a little rectangular grinding stone.
