Any pictures?

Haven't made it out to the garage yet. -40F outside and didn't feel like hobbling that far. I think it was an old WEN model.

I see Worksharp has introduced a pocket sized knife and fishing hook sharpener with adjustable carbide wheels. Suggested retail is a whopping 4 bucks. I'll be looking for it at Cabelas. Probably be 10 bucks there. Cabelas inflates everything...lol

For all you folks that have some fancy gadget to sharpen your knife, because you've never learned how to use a whet stone. Every time you break out that gadget, In the back of your mind, you know you hear a little voice saying "I will never be a real man..."

Just kidding! I've tried my share of gadgets. One that I use frequently because of the simple ease of it is a Warthog sharpener. Mount it on the edge of your laundry room counter, workbench or other place you frequently walk past and you can touch up a dull knife in seconds.

I use a series of stones with oil. I admit though that I screwed up big time when I sold my buffing wheel at one of my yard sales. I had this old arbor with a fabric buffing wheel powered by a motor scrounged from a washing machine mounted on a rusty work table. With a little compound on the buffing wheel running at slow speed, I could take that hair off the edge for a super sharp long lasting edge.

I can shave with my cutting tools and all the kitchen knives.

I use the good old fashioned oil stone with a drop of 3in1 oil every few mins.
I keep one stone in the kitchen and another in my shop. (also have a spare)

If I wish to re shape a blade I have a set of diamond 'stones', the kind mounted on plastic grids.

My best knife is one shaped from an old file and another made from a wide power hacksaw blade.

I tried the diamond chips on the plastic grid when they first came out. Have they improved any? Most of my diamonds wore off.

I have Henckels knives, so I have and use the Henckels sharpener. My knives are sharp enough for cutting most veggies without having to bear down. It's going to have to do.

Didn't know Henckels made a sharpener, but I guess it stands to reason they would. I have a Henckels set and I just use regular sharpening stones with oil, and touch them up with a steel often. I like to keep them sharp, my wife doesn't seem to care and they always seem to be dull after she uses them.

I've got one of those V-groove sharpeners I'll use on a cheap knife, but not on my good ones.

I was at a farmers market a few years ago and there was an older gentleman there with a van tricked out to sharpen all kinds of blades. His knife sharpener was this sweet looking low speed horizontal belt grinder with a super trick rail and clamp system. 3 different clamp angles 20, 25 and 30 degrees. They are pricey but I have more then paid it off by sharpening knives for folks in my neighborhood. RAZOR sharp in 5 minutes a knife.

Cheating? Yes maybe, but as I get older I am starting to realize that if one want to have time for other things efficiency is key.
