KK brush hog

I'm not trying to say that the KK design is ideal for sub-compacts, simply that there could be reason to place the pins at the point they have chosen. Actually, the KK design predates the sub-compact by quite a bit and I understand many TBNer's are very satisfied with their product. I also understand that KK now makes a cutter specifically for the sub-compact tractor. Perhaps this would be a better choice than their standard machine for your tractor. Without having access to one myself, maybe someone can comment on the XB KK series as to the pin locations.

I am glad this discussion has come up, with the release of the First Choice cutter line in the next couple of weeks, we feel we have learned from you all and will get it right the first time.

Just look at the pic in my last post and see the top pins and then imagine how that would work with the tractor pictured, the B2410 is a little larger than a JD4100, 4010, 4110 and about the same size as the NHTC21. The XB unit you mention would work but it is slightly lighter duty than the KK standard cutters. No, I understand where you are coming from but the only reason KK places the pins where they do is because the same frame is used on all sizes of their cutters. Since smaller tractors sit lower due to smaller tires it is not possible to use the same pin height for all size tractors. KK should at the very least as suggested by another provide several choices in pin location to make their unit more "universal". I am hard headed Jim, sorry. J

Yep, that can explain it. My tires are 9.5 X 24. I agree that subcompacts like this would need special linkage.

As I am reluctant to criticize another company's product and wouldn't dream of speaking as to their motives, I can only say that First Choice has addressed this situation in our cutter line.

In addition, for those who wish to use a quick hitch with a sub-compact, we are developing a quick hitch which will hook up lower on the tractor side yet still fit Cat 1 spaced implements, including all First Choice ground engaging equipment. We have found the pin height issue presents similar problems with other implements in varying degrees, although it is mostly seen with cutters and post hole diggers, this may help the situation with "other" Cat 1 equipment in use with sub compacts.
