Jay, there is dirt lying on the skids! honest. :D

Actually, I thought the same thing, I looked at the picture and said to myself, it looks like I never used it! We've been having drought conditions all summer, and despite some recent rains, everything is still rather dry, so the dirt hasn't been sticking to the rake, or grader blade.

I'll get the hose and some dirt, mix up some good mud and fling it on there.

That looks like it was made for your tractor, and it definitely looks solid built.

There's a 'Willco' chain out here that sells King Kutter implements and has an annual sale on them.

The tiller was my target for the sale before seeing yours and now after seeing it close up, as it were, I'm firmed up about the decision to buy one. Think I'll try for a 5' one because that's the width of my tires unless it needs more than 22 pto hp to make it dig.

my wife is making strong hints about a new bigger strawberry patch. she gobbles them faster than we can currently grow them!

TSC is a little conservative with their tiller specifications. I do not think that your B7800 and its 22 PTO HP will have any problems withe the KK II 60" model. You definitely want to clear your tire width. Jay

Hill,

I concur with Jay.

My BX2350 is book rated for 17.7 PTO HP, and KK called for a minimum of 20 PTO HP on the TG-48. I don't see any issue with power. I would venture to say a 15 PTO HP would drive the 48"er fine. If that is the case, your 22 PTO HP should drive a 60"?

As we have all discussed in prior threads, use good sense, don't try to bury to MAX depth on the first go, take a nice normal pace (slow) and it should be fine.

I tilled approx. 500 linear feet today, and except for the sawed off Tee Post and a buried peice of petrified locust tree, all was fine.
I've had a Troy Built Horse tiller since the late 80's, so I knew I'd find some "buried treasures" out there.

This is my front border by the road, I tilled then pushed a mound up using the Rear Blade, to ready it for woodchips and mulch. I'll have to hand rake some of the grass clumps outta there. Blue arrows show where tilled.
Frontyard Border

This is adjacent to the front yard, an area I am reclaiming from trees, vines, rocks and debris. Blue arrows show where tilled ready for some plantings, green area is lawn expansion with some new grass seed sprouting.

Too much.
I got itchy, dropped in at the TSC in Connecticut today and accepted the $300 off manager's special on the 6ft one.
Being curious about the gear drive and believing that the gear cases were both empty, I decided to pull the end plate off the side drive.
NOT empty, as evidenced by a clear colorless slime that oozed out as I loosened the bolts around the bottom edge. I quickly tightened them up and re-considered. I havn't bought oil yet.

The stuff that came out smelled a lot like GM's synthetic rear axle oil for limited slip axles. Some folk call it "Grape Juice", because of it's smell not it's color.
I think I'll have to cut the shaft, though I have one of the HF quick hitch things that I still havn't ground down to make it work. I'll think it through some more and maybe work on it tomorrow.

Reg, wow the 6 Footer! What size machine are you using?

It's typical for compaines to use a squirt of grease or heavy oil to guard against corrosion. Shipping companies have had the "no oil" requirement forever.

The Quick Hitch (from HF) is what I have, pushes your lift point back about 4inches. Keep that in mind if you do cut the PTO.

Otherwise let us know how it goes, take pics, that 6 footer must be a MONSTER!!

Yeah, I'm finding that if all else fails the low range on the B7800 will find a way through.

I'm still suspicious of the HST and think I feel it slipping sometimes. I'm a manual transmission believer though and could be imagining things. In any case it's meat for another thread.

Nice looking piece of ground you've got, SkunkWerx.

Thanks Jay!

I am also curious what size machine you are using? I am waiting until spring to pick up a KK tiller and I am not sure what size to choose. I was able to put in my food plots this year with free use of a dealer's rental unit.
