I'm looking to buy a tiller and can purchase a new King Kutter II 60'' for $1499. Is this a decent price or is it high? Also, any input on the quality of these tillers would be helpful. Thank you.

Price sounds about right. I would expect you to be pleased with craftsmanship. Expect to be disappointed with the paint job. It has all the quality of smeared silly putty.

I bought the 60" KK II for about $1200 new two years ago. I am in Minnesota, so there was some shipping included in the price. You are much closer to the KK factory, so conceivably the price may be lower because of that. Prices may have gone up in the past couple years. I would shop around a bit. Getting a TSC Stores credit card will sometimes get you 10% off the first purchase. Good luck..........

I dont know on the 5' prices now but I paid $1600 for a 6' KK2 1 year ago and they knocked $100 off the $1700 sticker price for me at that. Money well spent is how I feel about it still.

$50-75 one way or another wont hurt you in the big picture once you see what it will do.

After doing some research, I'm wondering if I should go with a 60" or a 48". My tractor is a B2320 DT (gear) which is listed as 18hp at pto. Would a 60" be too much for my tractor?

I'd stick with an XB 48"

bought a 5' KK last week from Fleet Farm for $1,189 on sale with a discount for signing up for their credit card.

I will second the comment on the poor paint job, but then I didn't buy it for its looks.

You may be happier with the 48". Speed is key to getting good results with a tiller - you need to be able to go slow enough while keeping you PTO spinning fast. The HSTs can crawl along at snail speed with the PTO still spinning 540. With my 26 PTO HP gear tractor I have bogged my KKII 60" down in heavy clay in 1st gear. At 540 RPM on the PTO I have a ground speed of 0.9 to 1.0 mph.

On the other hand, you can always get the 60" and take the tines off of the two outermost flanges if the going gets too much. That would give you the ability to do light to moderate tilling with the full 60" if that makes sense, depending on conditions.
