Yeah, I wish I had the XB rotary cutter instead of their standard cutter. I got the 48 because that is the size both the BX and the 2410 are intended to use. The 2410 has plenty of power for the 48 inch but I imagine if I had gotten the 5 foot it might get light on the front without the loader. The standard cutter really does not fit the BX or the 2410 very well. I had to modify the thing by drilling the two lower bolt holes out for cat-1 pins and the turning the pins in. The same for the 2410, with the pins in the standard top position (the only one there is unless you buy a 100 dollar half inch drill and make them bigger!!!!!!) the 2410 has very little lift left to clear the tailwheel. With the pins moved down it works correctly and with the pins in it is easier to hook up--very easy. I think the XB cutter would eliminate the need for the 100 dollar drill and 30 dollar drill bit. I like the dual tailwheels on the XB also. Why exactly on the standard cutter are the pins so high I have the lift lever nearly full up on the 2410 to engage--it seems KK needs to refigure the pin placement for the smaller tractors.
A correction, I think the XB 3-point finish mower is a 48 inch and not a 60 but it still is a fine looking little deck.

Tres, I bought a 48" standard KK brush hog for my new BX last weekend. I put it together and hung it on the tractor. Seemed like a lot of weight back there even with the FEL on. Also I could not lift it very high off the ground with the pins in the upper holes. Did moving the pins down into the lower bolt holes make much of a difference on your BX?
(I have a large drill and large bits......)
Also did you have to shorten the the PTO shaft on the KK?

I havent tried putting the PTO shaft on it yet. Kind of cold here this weekend.

Dan, it is a chunky piece for sure. Yes, moving the pins down and turning them in are needed for both the 2410 and the BX. The 48 inch standard cutter is pretty heavy with the loader but you should be OK. Yes, I wound up with two drive shafts, one for the BX and one for the 2410, fortunately I found one cheap---yes--you got to cut it--get out the hack saw.
The XB 48 inch cutter weighs 400 lbs and the standard cutter in 48 inch weighs 420 lbs and the 40 inch standard cutter weighs 350 lbs for reference.
I relocated the pins to the two holes at the bottom of the u frame. Why they put them way up so high beats me, they are way to high for any small tractor that would utilize a 48 inch cutter. Be sure to keep the frame pinned by the original pins so the holes do not wander off center and then find yourself unable to reinstall those middle bolts (pins). I just bought some new pins leaving the original pins in place.
Yeah, all in all the KK cutter does OK but I am not entirely pleased with it, I am not sure what I was expecting, it is a pain in the rear to set up and a bit lacking in engineering, no insult to farmers but I do not think they make good designers.
Hang in there, you should be able to lift the cutter with the pins relocated, I wish I had a digital camera.

My dealer gave me a tip on this...you can drill holes in the lift rods 1.5" higher in the yokes, which translates into considerably more lift heigth. I posted some pis a while back on this mod. It helped on my rear blade and a PHD I borrowed.

Charlie, forgive me for being kinda slow, but can you describe what you did a little more. I dont quite follow you....

Dan, I recently looked at the thread that charliebrn is referring to. Here is a link. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=owning&Number=84477&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1> 3 point hitch modification</A>

Thanks, Tres,Charlie and Rich. Looks like I have several options to consider. I'll try to drill out the lower holes tonight on the brush hog and put in a new set of pins as per Tres's suggestion. I'll see where I am with that and then decide if I want to drill some new holes in the lift rod yokes per Charlie's suggestion. Being that the tractor is still only a few months old I am kind of reluctant to start drilling holes in her already, but what Charlie proposes sure seems to make a lot of sense.
Thanks fellas for your advice...!

Tres, I got the holes bored out and the new lift pins put in on the KK 48" brush hog. Whew, those holes took a little longer to do than I thought they would/w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif. You were right, I can now lift the hog way up in the air. Big improvement.... I did however have a problem with the swivel yoke that is located on the top of the hog where the top link attaches. When lowering the hog the yoke would cam over and lock much like your elbow locks when your laying on your back and lifting something heavy with your arms fully extended. To get around this I welded a couple of tabs on the yoke to keep it from coming completely down and locking. The hog will now lower all the way without hanging up. Thanks for your advice.....Dan

Dan, I think that swivel fitting is supposed to swivel down like that, at least I think it is and it has not interfered with my use on either tractor. I mostly use the cutter on the 2410 but it has been numerous times on the BX which is how I knew the BX could lift it if you relocated the pins. Anyway, I am glad to hear that you are in buisness now, I think having to modify these implements is SOP. Be careful when lifting the cutter that your top link does not smash into the sheetmetal piece that has the top link hook on the back of the tractor (behind the seat).

Dan, here is a pic of my KKK 4 foot hog on the 2410. I think you can see that I lowered my pins and left the original pins in place. Notice that I also turned them in, at least I think you can see that. This pic taken back in the "Dog Park", what we call the little stretch of woods along the beaver creek in the back corner where "the" squirrel lives and a few rabbits and such hang out. J
