I just purchased a KK 48" tiller for my B7610. Does anyone know if the tiller drive shaft needs to be shortened for this tractor? If so, anything tricky I need to know? My husband gave me one of those looks when I told him we may have to shorten it. Thanks.

Go to Bushhog.com, look at the list of downloadable manuals, click on the one for tillers, and on page 9 they have illustrated instructions for measuring and cutting (if necessary).

I bought a 60" KK tiller a couple of years ago, and I had to shorten my shaft about 2 1/2". I think they give you a universal length shaft that is about as long as anyone would need, then you have to adapt it to your situation.

Good Luck /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The TSC here has one in N.Y for $1150. Does that price sound decent compared to yours? I'd like to get one.

You could always google KK and call them to ask. Sure they have a customer service line to reach somebody. A guy at work here has the B7800 and he didn't modify his but he got a 54".

Hi ByronBob,

I got the 48" KK tiller from my kubota dealer for $1100. Guess I'll have get out the "book" and figure out how to measure and cut it.

I got a 60" KK tiller here last year and it was listed at $999.00 and I think I paid $850 at the end of the season. Of course, I'm here in the low pay midwest. Almost everything is more expensive in the Empire state. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you got the tiller with the purchase of the tractor, I'd make the assumption the dealer owes you the correct length of drive shaft. Ask him how he tested the pair out if the shaft is the wrong length. Do it in person and give him a look (pass on your husband's) if you don't get the right answer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

YMMV (your mileage may vary), but its worth a try.

The tiller is still crated so I'm sure it wasn't ever checked. They just brought it in and loaded it onto the delivery truck. In fact they even forgot that I wanted one until the last minute. The good side is that I haven't paid for it yet. So a trip to the dealer is in order. I must start working on my "look". I'm sure though we'll end up measuring and cutting it ourselves. Will be a good learning experience.
