$170 for a packing kit????? You could have had the cylinder rebuilt for less than that.
Your crud in the cylinders was not from the manufacturing process. It was most likely from a new hose that was not cleaned after assembly. Check out this website: Ultra Clean Technologies. If your hose shop doesn't clean and cap your hose before the sale, find another hose shop.
