Kioti NX4510HST (previous LS XJ2025H, JD 500C)
Reason I chose the NX over something smaller was the loader. I don't have utilities at my property so I move water there in IBC totes. Transferred one today. The Kioti lifted it. Didn't like it, but it did it :) . Full to the 1200L mark (317 gal), so that was 2644 lbs of water, 175 lbs of tote, 305 lbs of pallet forks. So roughly 3124 lbs, out on forks - better than expected based on the specs - kind of figured on letting some water out to get it down to a weight I could handle. Luckily I didn't need to go any higher with it than that platform - it didn't want to take it any higher.

Loaded rears, ~600 lbs ballast box. Rears stayed on the ground, but moving it appx 300 yds over some rough ground, could feel the back end was light.

I just stress-tested my loader picking a pallet of retaining wall blocks off my trailer. First pallet I pulled several blocks off and the loader didn't have any issues. Second pallet I figured I'd just test to see if it could lift, and it did. Pallet weight is/was 2,700 lbs. I was only lifting to clear the trailer deck, but that's all that I needed. I would have wagered that it wouldn't have been able to do this: which is why I manually pulled several blocks off the first pallet- didn't figure it could handle the full pallet load. Larger concern was the pallet forks (having weight extended out like that- I think they're rated 3k?).

My forks are only rated @ 2800  but i figure their own weight doesn't count, and if that weight is distributed it's fine. Guess so since they did just fine. I was really surprised mine lifted that much as I was expecting specs to be "best case" and real world application way under.

Not that I have any reason to even try, but I could not have gone full height with that load. That few feet up was pretty much it and was going into relief. But for getting off trailer and getting on to platform, it lifted what I wanted to the height I needed. Very confident there's nothing I could possibly take a heaping scoop of with the 72" bucket and be an issue (other than forgetting to uncurl and dumping it on myself) :)

Manufacturers generally build in a margin. Ratings mean that they will warranty/stand behind their product performing to such specs. Lots of folks regularly haul way more in the pickup trucks than the rated capacities, but it's not a really good idea to do so on a regular basis.

Ratings on loaders are generally "to height." Yeah, I'm not thinking I'm going to want to be lifting 2,700 lbs to full height!

I had a big project this past summer in which I was loading a lot of material (gravel/sand/rocks). I was hauling an empty dump trailer up the road and then loading and hauling back. No attachment on the rear. With ballasted rears I was able to fairly comfortably deal with full bucket loads. If I really want to know that I'm not going to get tippy I attach the 1,200 lb box blade: you can feel the tractor squat with that attached.
