Klackety Klack Ford 3000

Moved my Ford 3000 from the lean-to into the shop for a bit of TLC and noticed a klack/klunk comming from the rear. Sounds more like it may be the right wheel but with the deisel clanking and my bad hearing it's hard to tell.

The lug nuts and rim bolts are all tight which scares me because that means it's internal. Any thoughts or ideas on what it might be?

This may sound too easy to be true but it can happen.
By chance was one of the lift arms swinging up angainst the back tire and bouncing up and down off the treads?
My 3000 had a set of stabilizer bars that ran parallel to the lift arms to keep this from happening. I installed them because one day the box blade got hung up on the tread and darn near came up over on top of me. Still send chill up my spine just thinking of it.

Grab the tire from the side.. and push/pull on it.. see if it is a loose hub.

Sound change any with brakes engaged?

Jacked up the right rear this morning, can produce something similar to what I was hearing holding the right break and rocking the wheel back and forth but don't think that is what I am hearing while driving. Also if I put it in gear and lock the dif I can hear a clunk when rocking the wheel. Sad to say this seems closer to what I was hearing yesterday. Wheel is tight with no play I can detect, whatever it is it's internal /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Right now I have the front cowl and hood off to do a little dent pounding. Am going to figure out some temporary mount for the air cleaner so I can drive it with the sheet metal off. Will see if applying the break makes any difference when I can move it under it's own power...
