Tractor
farm pro 2425
Have a far pro 2425 that developed a nasty knock. I drained the oil thick but had a bit of a shine so I continued. Stripped ending down to pistons haven't found anything that stands out. Not sure what to do next? Tractor only has 80 hours

Knocking is usually indicative of a 'lower end' problem, as in rod bearings.

Unsure what you mean by thick oil, but a bit of a shine...........do you mean metal shavings in the oil?

If you remove the bearing caps from the rods and mains, be sure to mark them as to where they went

have any bearing caps turned color? ( bluish)

any show signs of a spun shell?

What do you mean by spun shell?

bearing shell.. IE.. spun bearing...

if you are not familair with these terms.. ...might be the time to take it to someone who's worked on an engine before and get some help with it.

that and a service manual.. should make short work of the diagnosis and subsequent repair.

Is there a possibility of an injector causing this problem as in what some refer to as a fuel knock?

EDIT: Considering the way you described the knock, I would take the oil pan off and check the rod and main bearings. You claim to have the top end apart already, and everything there looks good.

I realize the tractor only has 80 hours on it, but the knock can ruin your year in a hurry if a rod comes loose and goes thru the block.

I'm sure I've seen threads here on TBN about Farm Pro tractors coming apart with low hours.

I also have all pistons out and all bushings on connecting rods are just like new.

No play in wrist pins

Even low hours don't mean all was well from the factory. I had a similar problem with 1233 Massey. They replaced all the bearings and the problem went away. I've also seen, what looked to be, a relatively new Kubota with a shattered piston and broken rod hanging out of the block.
If it only has 80 hours on it the factory warranty should be in effect.
