I agree yellowdogsvc. I'm saving the coin to scale up and trying to find a dealer in this area that cares about the small guys. Having a hard time finding a small mulcher dealer.

Bobcat dealer no good? For the brush you have down there, a Bobcat/Fecon or CAT/FAE head would eat it up. You run wheeled or CTL?

Do you have a Fecon or CAT dealer?

The problem is I have a T 650 so the bobcat and cat mulcher requirements are out of the T 650's specs 30.5 gpm at 3500 psi. I got a price for a fae dml/ssl 19225 (which I am leaning towards) that fits in the range and have looked at us mower flail and brush hound flail both for the same price. The only thing the dealers are pretty far from me and the head ache I have had with skid pro brush cutter has instilled some gun shyness. In regards to this post, if I could go back I would have bought more gpm but I have to say I really like the bobcat it has not let me down. I run a brushcat for the lighter stuff and a Massey 573 with a land pride flail 4188 for grass acreage. The Bobcat dealer is good but seems to have little experience with this application for instance this had never sold a forestry mulcher. I really appreciate the forum and all the advice everyone gives. Hind sight to do things different and better is a way to show the desire to improve what I do now.

If your business has grown to where you need a mulcher, if it is affordable, I'd trade that 650 or sell it and get a 770 or cat 299 and run a 2 speed FAE or Fecon head if you have rocks down there.
Having the right tools is critical when it comes to tree work. A drum mulcher is not going to take the same beating a rotary will on that rock-hard S. TX brush but it will push the machine's components and cooling system. The Bobcat's cooling system WILL handle S. TX heat with minor maintenance and it's hydro flow, while not stellar, is adequate plus the A/C will give you a freeze brain in mid July (If a Bobcat engineer is reading this, call me or write me. I have some suggestions to put Bobcat at the top of the class) .
