Almost hit one on Phillip Island VIC near dusk one night. It crossed the road without looking. Was only going about 30 KPH, but can see why so many of the Koalas and Wombats become road pizza. But they sure are good on the eyes. Though hard to spot in the wild, and they blend in the the trees so well, and don't move much during the day.

The tree in the middle pic is a Eucalyptus. The other 2 are olive bushes. We have a lot of old olives around here. They have become a bit of a pest. The koalas dont eat olive leaves, but this one scurried up the olive bush for the day perhaps scared by the sound of our dog. They usually sit in trees all day then move on at about dusk.
