The other day I drove through the back of our local John Deere dealer and saw four brand new Kabota tractors?????? My farmer buddy said John Deere had bought these tractors to to have a contest with matching Kabota's. He also mentioned that the mechanics had fooled around with the Kabota's hydraulic pumps to give the JD's a winning edge. Has anyone been to one of these demo's.

My local dealer is actually doing this today. Planning on going and checking it out even though I am reformed Deere owner now already.

I'll look for wrench marks if I can get close enough. Hopefully the local dealer wouldn't do such crazy antics.

I have not been to a farm tractor demo. I run cat dozers at work and they used one of ours for a demo once. They did turn the fuel up in the pump but, did not do anything to the other tractors as far as I know. Guess JD can only win if they cheat!!

I wonder what they would say if someone brought their own tractor and showed them up.

Well I would say the antics are being performed. Basically add to rev the Kubota to red line to fork about 1000 lbs. I don't remember the size tractor but was compromable size as the JD.

They also tried to show how tippy the Kubota was by just barely getting the forks under the pallet. I called them on it and was told it would make no difference. I just told they guy whatever and walked off.

I doubt they would mess with the Kubota but there's nothing saying they didn't do everything they could to make sure the JD's pressure relief wasn't at the highest spec. Quite frankly if I went to a dealer who tried this I wouldn't trust them for anything. I would expect one of the new lesser selling brands to do something like this to show they are just as good but for Deere to do it? That kind of says we don't have faith in our tractors will sell themselves.

JD and Kubota make a good tractor. Some things are definitely nicer on one versus the other for sure.

In the few tractors I've owned, I can certainly pick apart both for their weaknesses.

I would love a Frankenstein of the two with everything I liked with none of what I didn't.

Been to many demo's and seen many things that aren't right! That is the nature of us, not the equipment and for some manufacturers it is not there style. For others it's a way of life. There are some that are conservative, and right on, then there are others that boost about ten to twenty more then possible.
