Kodiak Brush Cutter?

So - does anyone else have direct experience with a Kodiak rotary cutter? I'm also looking at one as a lower-cost option. Seems like this thread took an immediate veer from the OP's question.

If you want one of the best cutters out there on the market today, here is picture of a HD International 10 pull type with all cylinders and hoses for $4650 picked up on I-65 1 hour south of Louisville, Ky 42765. I have personally put one of these thru some tough work conditions and we have also had a new Woods 121 10 ft cutter here on the farm, The International is twice the cutter the 121 is at a lot less money. Ken- thank you, however I was just looking for more general info about the Kodiak brand, as I'm actually looking at a 72" standard duty lift type. I'm up in Michigan and it seems our range of implement brands is a bit more limited here than all I read about - we have the high-end Woods, Landpride etc., we have the TSC brands, we have the generally silly and overpriced tractor company brands that are made by someone else and simply rebadged, and then we have a motley assortment of mid-range and lesser known brands, which are hard for me to place as far as quality and value.

The Kodiak to my understanding is a re-badged "Big Bee" that we did sell at one time. 72 inch Hawkline with 3 point hitch $895 with shearpin protection and $995 with slip clutch. Picture below. Ken Sweet

I have a 5' Kodiak cutter that I have been using commercially for the past 3yrs, well over 100ac total. It's one of the best 'cheap' mowers out there IMO. I purchased mine from Agri-Supply for $500. I use it for grass, weeds and brush up to 2", works great. The sides are beat out just a little, and the tail wheel fork is slightly bent, but for as much as I've used it I have certainly gotten my moneys worth. It also seemed to be better built than king kutter or the other cheap TSC brands.

I don't know the quality of the larger ones, but I suspect that they would be similar. Good for a 'cheap' mower, nothing compared to Deere or Woods.

Ken you might want to check your source on Kodiak being manufactured by Darrell Harp . Kodiak is in Charleston, TN and Harp is in Red Bay, AL. Dennis Tweed owns Kodiak and he manufactures all his cutter products there in Charleston,TN.

In the past few years , I have seen Kodiak and Big Bee 10 ft cutters and they look the same to me. I just thought they were swapping with each other. Who am I to know anything? Ken Sweet
