Just blew up the 20hp Magnum engine in my Teramite T5B, while taking it apart to see if I can fix it I found the Engine Identification Label is just a blank silver decal. Is there any other way to find this info? Without it the engine really is just junk.

If you cannot find the engine model number it is going to be difficult to get the corrct parts to repair it. Kohler used to impression stamp the numbers into a tag, sounds like they are now silk screening them on so they have planned obsolescence...

Will Teramite provide you with any information?

Good luck

I bought it used with 2500+ hours, not sure if it's even the original engine.

Welcome to TBN.

The New Member Introductions forum is for, well, introducing yourself, not asking tech questions. Soooo, I moved your post to the Parts/Repairs forum in hopes of you getting a better response.

I also left a re-direct to this post in the New Member Introduction forum that will expire in a month. ;)

Ken,

Did you look at all the shields/shrouds on this engine? I looked at the churches lawn mower with an 18 HP magnum twin in it. There is a metal plate by the intake that was impression stamped with the model number. There was also a silver label that I suspect was some type of warning / safety label that was blank. The model number was buried under oil and grass accumulation. If you haven't yet, clean all the shrouds and see if another tag appears.

Good luck

not sure if they will be of any help but the phone number for terramite manufacturing is 800-428-3772 they are located in west virgina. at best they might be able to tell you from serial number on machine motor information. i deal with suppliers on engine parts for kohler only starters and alternators but on the 'id' tag is something called the 'SPEC' number most of the time they cannot do anything with out it. good luck
