Kohler vs Kawasaki fuel consumption

/ Kohler vs Kawasaki fuel consumption #21
A carbed gasoline engine will use 50% more fuel than a straight fuel injected diesel. This is good data from a bunch of us engineers back in the 80s.

Knowing this, a carbed gasoline engine should use 1.5 x 0.46 gph for 18.5 hp. This is data from my 4010 over 9 years and 660 hours and has prorated directly by engine hp to the present 2025R. I'd say your Kohler's carb isn't right. That Grasshopper with a Kubota diesel sounds like a good one.

I had a Gravely with a 12 hp Kohler. Never did keep good records on it, but don't think it burned that much.
