Anybody own one of these mowers that can offer a review on it? Briggs VS. Kohler?

What about the Kohler? Heard a bunch of people say that about the Kohler. My dealer said both engines were equal, but he prefered the Briggs because it was not as loud as the Kohler.

Briggs are like a time bomb, you never know when they are going to blow. The Kohler that comes on the Kommander is not their top of the line engine but it still should be good for homeowner use. I bet the Kohler powered one would have a better resale value.

I bought the 27HP Kohler version. That is all my dealer ordered and also what I wanted. Was always told not to buy a Briggs. As far as the rest of the machine I love it! Very smooth ride and nice cut. I got the mulching kit for it and the machine does a great job mulching.

I bought the ZG124e because my dealer only had the 52" deck with the kohler, and honestly, the 48" deck is overkill for my 0.65 acres. The way I look at it is it has a 4 year 300 hour warranty, so if anything is going to happen, it'll be during that time. After that, I have a machinist who lives within shouting distance of my house who did all the machine work on my forged ls6 motor. He has no issue rebuilding small engines too. So if it goes, guess what, it'll get pulled, and made into a 30+hp B&S.

I like the machine a lot. I'm glad I went with it. My options at the time were a Hustler or a Gravely, and the Kubota definitely gave me the best value for my money.

Does anyone have any links for options like the mulching kit, or a bagger or roller/striper kit?

I've owned many Briggs powered toys and tools in my life, including some real old ones. Never had any issues. Maybe because I maintained them well and used only Amsoil in them. Who knows. I've got a lawn mower with over 1K hours that has a Briggs that never had any issues. I am sure Briggs is not as good as Honda or other Japanese engines, but I think its no worse than other American made ones. H*ell, if John Deere and Kubota pair them with their mowers they must be OK.
I would not hesitate to buy another Briggs, except if I have a choice of a Japanese engine instead.

To my understanding Briggs is now manufactured in China which is why there are a lot of quality complaints now. I am like you though, I have owned several power equipment with briggs engines over the years and have not had a breakdown yet. I would however prefer another engine in anything I buy in the future.
