Kommander Review

To be accurate, 3/4 is actually 19.05mm, and while a 3/4" socket would work on a 19mm bolt, a 19mm socket might not work on a 3/4 nut, and a 13/16" is actually 20.6375mm, so a 21mm socket would work on a 13/16 nut, but a 13/16" socket might not fit over a 21mm nut. I know it's splitting hairs, but again, the right tool for the right job.

I'll just buy both metric and sae and find one that fits. ;)

You must be a hit at parties

You'd be surprised. But I learned a long time ago, that the quickest way to screw something up, was to take a shortcut and not do things the right way. I simply asked if anyone knew what the bolt head size was.

On my BX the bolt is 30mm, or 1.181102362 inches, or a little bit less than 1 3/16.

Source for calculations: wiki answers (thank goodness for the internet).

Not sure if that will work for your deck.

You better buy Snap-on sockets while you are at it. They grab nuts/ bolts better than any other.

My ZD is also 30mm. I got an oversize set of metric sockets at Sears.

I know this is a little old but FYI, most Kubota Decks use 30 mm spindle bolts.

And for the B&S vs Kohler, Kubota tested all 4 engines to 1000 hrs prior to production so I would not be worried about either. My preference is the 27 HP B&S with the Cyclonic filter due to the cyclonic filtration keeping a good bit of debris and dirt from ever entering the filter element reducing premature degradation of performance.

Thanks for the updates guys with the correct bolt size. Much appreciated.

I've got 12.5 hours now on mine and I love it. The cut is excellant, the speed and maneuvarability is great.
