Anybody have an opinion on which loader would be better for this tractor?

80 is plenty big . The 120 is oversize for it.

Ditto with Len!

Ditto here too.
The 1500 front end will last longer with the 80 loader

The 80 is a perfect match for the 1500D. Check out the attached picture.

Is the 80 the same as a 110? I have a 110 on my 1500D and it looks to be the same size.

I believe the 80 is slightly smaller than the 110.

My 1602D came with a 155 with a 4' bucket. When it's full of moist dirt you can really feel it too. Even with wheel weights, I feel better with my brush hog on the back and raised up slightly to counterbalance it.............

If you have a 155 on a 1602 your tractor is grossly mismatched, and someone put on way too much loader. We used the 155 starting on 2610s. I'd be concerned as to how it is mounted, as it is not designed to mount on a 1602.

I wondered about it myself, it really doesn't fit the tractor quite right, in fact I have to reverse the front wheels to get enough clearance to turn tightly. I was looking seiously at the threads that talked about moving the front axle forward. I don't pick up too much with it, just the odd dirt pile or chunks of wood. I'll post some pics later after I resize them for this forum.........

Jagmandave,

After looking at your pictures of the 1602, and very nice paint work indeed, I did notice that your bucket looks to be at least 60". I have to agree with Wayne at LMTC, as your loader is designed for a much bigger tractor, probably in the 26-30 HP range.

I recently looked at a gentlemans Iseki, that had broken vertical ears (bosses) on both sides from too large of a loader. He was carrying a bucket load of clay at waist high and hit a rut which caused the vertical towers to collapse, breaking everything but the bolts from the FEL to the tractors chassis.

IMHO, counter balancing the FEL is the norm, but oversized implements (or weights) put undo stress on the center of the tractor and mounting points, way more than it's original engineered design.

I have considered moving the FWD axle, lengthening driveline and steering linkages to increase better front end weight distribution, but doing so to accommodate FEL clearances would complicate unsupported stress areas and may (an probably would) lead to catastrophic failure. For safety sake, I would not recommend this procedure.

You have a very nice tractor and FEL, so I would take smaller bites with the bucket or give serious consideration to a smaller FEL or bigger tractor.

Regards, Mark

Attached is a picture of the FX26D that I had with a Koyker 155 on it. Indeed it was meant for a slightly larger tractor.

Mark and all,
Thanks for the input. It is in fact a 48" bucket, FWIW. But I have learned to take smaller bites as you put it, for my comfort level as well as the tractor's! I don't move a lot of stuff with the bucket - yet, so I'll just plan to take it easy on it from here on out. Thanks!
