We have got 2 or 3 fawns with the sickle mower that I can remember over my life.

I hit a fawn this year-felt terrible. I had been cutting the field for an hour-the fawn never moved, nor did I see a doe in all that time. Funny, I hunt deer and usually kill 2-4 a year, but hitting that fawn really bothered me!

Will, I think any of us would feel bad about accidentally killing the fawn.. I know I would not like it at all, and I have killed plenty of adult deer. But it is different intentionally taking an adult deer and accidentally running over a little fawn that just does not know any better than to just lie there because it is normally in its best interest to lie still to avoid most predators. I understand how you feel completely.

I agree. I've killed my share of deer during hunting season - even a few fawns on the last day when the alternative was eating deer tag soup for the year. But killing a newborn with the mower would make me feel very bad.
