Something is not right with Kubota regional suggesting those tire pressure. either the dealer got it wrong or Kubota local office knows they have a problem and are trying to deal with it without buying new tires. The tires are probably OK but I would dig harder because of those tire pressures. Again, while the tires are probably OK, they might not be in a few years.

No way would I put that air pressure in those tires or if you want to, find a couple of tire explosion photos first. You never know but I know not to excessively overinflate. I'll bet Kubota the corporation would never go with those PSI numbers. Just my two cents here.

By the way, from my errant youth, it's Barny Rubble. Fred is the Flintstone.

I'd run them and forget about it. Had a set of Firestones R1s that were cracked like that for years, wore the tread out on them before replacing.

Having had to deal with tire inspections for aircraft, and having sat through classes from Goodyear and Michelin, I can tell you that I would not worry about the cracking shown in those photos.

I would worry about those pressures that you were given.

Here is the email and later tech spec's.

I think these tires were designed to go on much much heavier equipment such as in a quarry where they would wear out long before they disintegrated.

Both front and rear tires have a 12 ply rating. Not the lower pressure design for ground engaging work.

There is a lot of white space under the email so keep scrolling

12-ply tires makes a difference.
Those tire pressures seem inline to be, but being on a tractor you don't need that pressure.

That cracking would not concern me at all

Cracking is a non issue in my opinion. As for the pressure, the max psi listing on the sidewall is your upper limit, which may be applicable in some cases (i.e., loader work on hard surface). Dial back from that for other uses.

OK ! You have a very unusual set of tires, something I have never seen here in the states. Never heard of 12 ply rated agricultural tractor tires. No doubt they must have been made for heavy equipment. Re-thinking this whole thread and comments. First, this reinforces the opinion by most that the cracks are superficial and not to be concerned about at all. Second, those pressure recommendations DO appear to be real, not a mix up of pressure units or a dealer confusion. I would still go by what is printed on the side of the tires. If you do end up inflating them to the 50 psi front and 37 psi rear they are going to ride like rocks !! What do the tires say for max inflation on the side of the tires ? If they only show metric units, go ahead and post those and I will go find conversion factors to convert them to psi. Interesting.

I've got some 12ply R-4 Firestones that I put on the back of my JD790. Got a great price because they were closeouts and were meant to go the front of a telehandler. They weigh a lot more and my 790 rode and handled better.

Just pointing out that he did say 12-ply r4s in the first post

Yep. I missed that.
