Kubota 2410 Generator rating?

Anyone know the current rating of the generator in a 2002 Kubota B2410? I'm thinking about adding lights for those short winter days in the Pacific Northwest.

I finally got in touch with a dealer that knew the answer. The stock generator is only 14.5 amps. For (2) 55W lights, that leaves only about 5 Amps margin for charging/other stuff. They sell a 40 Amp upgrade kit for $165, $195 installed.

Glad I was smart enough [rare day that was...] to upgrade to the 40 amp alternator when I bought my B2910 in August.

I think it cost something like $65 to do it at purchase time....

Now I have to get some lights mounted to take advantage of the added capacity...

Ug. Looks like I got gouged on that little accessory. This was added during purchase time! I had the purchase all negotiated and only then thought about the generator question. I guess they wanted some of their margin back. Good news is that I pick up my shiny new 2410 day after tomorrow!

Yep...should now better than to trust those darn memory files of mine!

The list price was $165...was discounted a little, I forget how much...I bought my tractor as a package, and figured what I was paying for each item by applying a discount to the list price of all the indivudual parts...

I think the net discount off of list for the whole works was about 13% to 14% range...So I guess I really paid about $144 installed...

What I paid for the tractor covered set up and delivery, and intallation of the extras that I ordered with it.

I also purchased the larger alternator option on my B2410. Not that I am questioning what was installed on my B2410, how do you determine by looking at the alternator if it is the larger unit?

No problem. I spoke with my dealer and he insisted that the $165 was a good price. So he discounted it a little anyway ($10) because I called. So, no harm.

That gets me thinking. I wonder if I get both generators, the factory one and the one I paid extra for. I suppose I do. Would be nice to have a back-up part. If I get both, I'll have a look at them to see if I can tell them apart. Maybe even post a photo if that would be useful to anyone.

I asked my dealer about that and was told the price was for the upgrade and they keep the original alternator.../w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

The original alternator must be REALLY small, because the mechanic told me the big one he put on required him to put a different dip stick in too [shorter one I guess] That "big one" still looked on the small side to me...
